BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's economy could grow less than a forecast of 4.5% next year after holding up better than expected in the third quarter, a finance ministry official said on Monday, adding government stimulus measures should ensure a strong recovery.

The anticipated slower 2021 growth would be due to a base effect after the economy contracted a less-than-expected 6.4% in the third quarter of 2020 from a year earlier, Kulaya Tantitemit, acting director of the ministry's Fiscal Policy Office, told reporters.

In October, the ministry forecast the economy would shrink 7.7% this year before growing 4.5% in 2021. It will review these projections next month.
