Six victims of an online banking fraud that netted criminals 2 million baht went to Thailand's tech police for action yesterday.

Pol Maj-Gen Phanthana Nutchanat received their complaint.

Criminals had infiltrated the systems of a leading commercial bank sending out SMS to customers asking them to update their personal data. The fraud included use of OTPs or one time passwords sent to mobile devices.

One person said they lost 246,000 baht and reported to the local police but they had not taken any action. The bank told them to press the police for action.

There are believed to be 29 victims of the fraud that was perpetrated quickly in early December, reported New Na.

Wanthana Janpetch - a tourism operator who runs a raft in Sangkhlaburi district of Kanchanaburi - said she lost 260,000 baht.

Messages were also sent on the LINE application.

Apart from losing money the victims also found themselves at the center of the criminal investigation.

Thaivisa notes that Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) recently sent out a warning to its customers after online fraud was detected.
