ThailandRyan
Looks like mass testing is needed again in Chiang Mai, Bangkok now, Samut Prakan, and Ayutthaya. But Khon Kaen and Korat have already told people that may have been in Samut Sakhon beginning Dec 1st to report for testing and quarantine.

It's not 10,000 tests, they are doing close to 40,000. Read the Bangkok Post. Thailand has been doing testing for months. One reason they found these cases. Congrats to Thailand for the fantastic job they've done. I doubt any of us here would want to go home to our countries and deal with the mess there.

If no one has symptoms or shows up at hospital there is no need to test the entire population. But when people were going to hospitals to try and get tested they were told to go to Bangkok as they did not have any test kits. So how exactly do the doctors In that hospital know if you have Covid regardless of being symptomatic or asymptomatic. The other side of the coin is hospitals that did have test kits were charging between 8,000 and 13,000 baht for a test! It’s eventually going to come out either way somewhere down the line which one it was.

That counts for something surely? Correct handling and a more disciplined approach maybe? The same disciplines approach that this forum complains about as killing the economy by the way. Do you want more tests that would certainly show more assymptomatic positive results that were always there but not causing ANY sicknesses and deaths then? Result? Panic, lockdown and further ruination of the economy. Europe tested to relieve their overflowing hospitals. Did we ever have that? Keep it in perspective PLEASE.

Doctors, Nurses, Scientists and those other medically informed folk do; however they really need to get their act together with this. The gate is wide open and the horse has bolted..time to repair the fences (borders) and tighten up the whole illegal entry points..and hey, you may even see a reduction in the illegal human trafficking and drug movement. In March, I discussed these issues with a few doctors and medical staff. Thai people do not need to pay for testing. When a person goes to a hospital they are screened for symptoms. A doctor will make a decision if the person needs testing. If the doctor orders a test, they call a national tracking center for a tracking number. Then they swab and send the sample to central laboratories. Local hospitals do not do testing. Samples are sent to Bangkok. One does not pay when you have been given an authorization code. The reason this has occurred is easy... 2 options #1 migrant workers have illegally crossed the border, skipped quarantine and been employed illegally by Thais as documents would be incorrect, ie no entry stamps. #2 migrant workers have entered legally, got the paperwork stamped by a border agent for a fee to then skip quarantine and go straight to a work-house thus skipping quarantine. Greed and corruption has come back to bite the Thais in the rear-end. Som nam na! 1
