Coronavirus aid at risk as U.S. lawmakers block Trump's changes

This headline is misleading and paints all of the lawmakers with the same brush!  The correct headline should read:

Coronavirus aid at risk as Republican lawmakers block Trump's changes

Hold on a minute. I was told very clearly yesterday that the Republicans were the ones who wanted these foreign aid payments and the democrats did not. Seems that was false information? Maybe the post

What a nice Christmas gift form the Republicans to the American public. Way to go to gain sympathy! ????

You have yet to link to a credible report to prove that it was Trump that wanted $10 million sent for Pakistan gender studies and other wastes of money on foreign pork projects, against the democrats wishes. I know Trump, and I know the democrats. Wanting such sums sent abroad for such outrageous projects is NOT Trump's work or style. I need a report as per this forums rules that prevent people making things up and presenting things as fact.

$10 million is what Top Dead decides to focus on out of all of this? That is the amount of relief for exactly 5,000 Americans at $2000 a person. Why dont you focus on what is truly important here and that is people are WITHOUT  MONEY and your Dear President is shooting triple bogies and marking them down as Eagles instead of DOING THE WORK...stop trying to control the narrative and distract from the fact that the leader of your cult is the worst president in history.

In addition to it NOT being part of the COVID bill, it is also not for gender studies:

The US Congress on Tuesday approved USD 25 million civilian aid package for Pakistan to strengthen democracy and promote women's rights in the South Asian country.

I suspect the term 'gender studies' serves the right wingers agenda better though.

oopsie.  your bias is showing.  i haven't seen any honest reference anywhere to "gender studies" programs, only the usual conspiracy sites adding "studies" to the actual text of the bill.  the bill funds "gender programs" designed to promote equality in an otherwise undemocratic nation (2nd to last in the world on gender equality) where women are more or less treated as cattle.

please provide a link from a legitimate news source detailing the "gender studies programs," not one of the many tinfoil-underpants-kraken-whisperer disinformation purveyors found in the dark crevices of the interwebs.

Well you got your link but it seems you dont like the facts. So what is your theory , that Trump was unaware of what his administration had proposed ?

Surely you dont believe that , rather than actually doing his job , he was preoccupied with bitching on twitter and playing golf , that would be outrageous right !

Would have been a great election vote-buying scheme... Wonder why he didn't try it???

Just like the original $1200 CV relief payments having to go out via checks bearing his name or, for those with direct deposit, the notification letter being signed by him.

In unprecedented move, Treasury orders Trump’s name printed on stimulus checks

April 15, 2020 at 7:46 a.m. GMT+7

The Treasury Department has ordered President Trump’s name printed on stimulus checks the Internal Revenue Service is rushing to send to tens of millions of Americans, a process that could slow their delivery by a few days, senior IRS officials said.

The unprecedented decision, finalized late Monday, means that when recipients open the $1,200 paper checks the IRS is scheduled to begin sending to 70 million Americans in coming days, “President Donald J. Trump” will appear on the left side of the payment.

It will be the first time a president’s name appears on an IRS disbursement, whether a routine refund or one of the handful of checks the government has issued to taxpayers in recent decades either to stimulate a down economy or share the dividends of a strong one.

I see your point...but not sure if I agree.  The other stimulus bill passed with Trump's name on the checks.  Other "would have's?"  Would he had won if the Hunter Biden investigation was announced?  Or if the COVID vaccine had been announced?  Trump seems to think so.

But this one I agree with:  Trump would have been re-elected if he wasn't such a horrible President.
