American Television Viewing In Bangkok

Recommended Posts

I live in Bangkok and subscribe to the True Gold Package. I have it mostly for English television programming. I feel the selection is not that great. If I installed a VPN on my laptop, could I get American television programming? Meaning American television channels. Are there any apps that can do this?

most services copy Netflix and geolock - most VPNs can't get around it, and the ones that do sporadically work. Your best bet is to download the shows you want using a torrenting site such as eztv - i use this for all my tv binges.

https://eztv.wf/

The best bit is all the ads are taken out so you don't have to suffer through 20 minutes of adverts for one hours programing. It has all the major programs including news and late night shows, sports events etc. Updated all the time and everything is arranged by day of airing - or you can just search for the program you want to watch.

https://www.thewatchcartoononline.tv/

Use this one to watch ALL cartoons (anime included) like rick & morty, drawn together, family guy etc and has every cartoon - even ones from decades ago.

https://www.utorrent.com/desktop

I use this small torrent program - utorrent. Very fast and light.

I have an android box - Could you enlighten us how to watch US programs for free whilst in Thailand? I don't know any other method other than downloading. Similar to the OP, I use True too, Hybrid Android box and the smaller true ID box

There are plenty of threads on TVF regarding this.

You can buy an Android box for less then 1500 b no monthly anything.

Mine came preloaded with many apps to access just about everything.

Mobdro

Kodi

Cyberflix

HD Cinema

Livetv.net

On and on.

US TV all nbc, cbs, fox, etc. Showtime, Netflix, HBO, current or older movies

everything accessible thru the apps.

No subscriptions to anything and my room includes free cable.

So, some do your own research and figure it out took me less then one minute to hook up to my TV and router then, free TV Nirvana...

And all that free stuff works so perfect that you paid for a game pass subscription.

Just wanted to waste money I guess

Haha, sure I certainly can afford it since everything else is free.

I like the NFL and can watch the national games on the Android box.

But, the game pass provides additional options such as immediate replays of all games and other features I enjoy. Not a waste of money for me I really enjoy it, but if some cannot afford the fee really sorry to hear that game pass is wonderful.

Just subscribe to a prepaid IPTV service for less than 10USD /m. Doesn't need a VPN to watch all USA channels in FHD and HD. The free stuff like Mobdro and Livetv are very clunky in comparison and although free come at a cost in frustration at times.

Getting an "android box" is pretty common remark here, but be aware that you get what you pay for. These boxes are shoddy, slow af, and if you're lucky you will receive system updates for a year, but more likely none at all. Your android box likely be useless soon unless you have a bit of IT skills to keep it running. Also, it's important to note these things come from highly suspect sources and some of these units have been tested and shown to also be running cryptominers and network monitors, so your wifi security and bandwidth is likely to be compromised to some degree.

If you really want to go the android box route, better to build it yourself if you are capable and have time. Start with a reputable GLOBAL brand, then add in the "free tv" apps you require. Again, you'll need to research which apps you are installing. The best ones will have an active online community for user support which will indicate, but not 100% guarantee, they aren't running any suspect processes in the background.

I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from going this route, obviously a lot of people use android boxes and are happy, but you need to be aware of the risks.

Another route is to google "free online tv streams" or something similar. Technically these streams are illegal so I'm not going to put links here. These sites go down periodically, so I usually have one main site I use and bookmark a couple backups just in case one goes down. You can "cast" or "airplay" these streams from your phone or PC to your TV pretty easily.

For reference, the website I use currently has free access to all these live channels: A&E, ABC, AMC, Animal, BBC America, Bravo, Cartoon Network, CBS , CNBC, CNN, Comedy Central, Discovery Channel, Disney Channel, ESPN, Food Network, Fox Business, FOX, Fox News, Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, Freeform, FX, Golf Channel, Hallmark, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, HBO, HGTV, History, Investigation Discovery, Lifetime, MSNBC, National Geographic, NBC, NFL Network, Nickelodeon, One America News Network, PBS, Showtime, Starz, Syfy, TBS, Tennis Channel, The CW, The Weather Channel, TLC, TNT, Travel Channel, Turner Classic Movies, TV Land, USA Network

False from my experience and I have no IT skill's.

My building however is new and does have cable access.  Also, I get the fastest internet service.

Never had any issues you describe with the box. Fast, clear and always available. And updates are common automatically come up on the apps when there is one.

I do take it in for a service about every 6 months.  Just for a refresh and to add any new apps.  100 b for this at Tukcom.

Wow, an exchange of valuable information on this forum, with a noticeable lack of useless bickering. Color me impressed. ????

Streaming sites are a legal grey area, depending on the country you use them in. In the US and UK, where the "copyright police" or whatever you want to call them aggressively go after such things, as the megacorps pay them handsomely to do so, certainly. Here in the LOS, not so much.

The network behind "My 600 Pound Wedding" or what the latest reality junk is, might issue a nasty letter to the Thai govt, imploring them to do something about these horrible expats stealing their hard work. As probably do the sports leagues behind whichever guys earn them billions for bashing themselves silly with brain damage. Hope they made wise investments with those retirement funds, unlike a certain guy named after a breakfast beverage. Anyway, the Thai govt doesn't seem to care a whole lot about them. Just look at their stance on streaming porn, supposedly absolutely verboten in this country of high moral standards. Yet I keep having to take phones and tablets away from my students, the porn continuing to stream in on them with wild abandon, as low as 4th grade.

Here's a question.

I do have an Android box and youtube and LivenewsNOW have been streaming quite well for many months now.

Finally got around to installing Modbro.

The streams tend to often buffer severely or barely even work.

Sometimes they work for a while and then not.

I would understand if it was a connection speed issue, but why would the others work well and not Modbro?

Running a service, not the customers. They were silly to run it in country. The smart guys bounce it off servers abroad, and have continued to do so for years.

Here in this forum a few years back, I remember feuds between sellers of Android boxes, claiming users of their opponents' boxes were "getting visits from the BIB". Absolute nonsense. There's no money or impressive photo op to be had there. But with purveyors of a service, right in the country, would be another story.

You know of any end users in the UK or US that got charged with anything?

As far as I'm aware they are not interested in that.

When they cracked down on Xtream they got the IP addresses of millions of users all over the world.

Since then, they have taken down and prosecuted many IPTV services, the latest one was just last week, but I have never heard about an end user getting a knock on the door.

I started off here with True, gave up after a year, and started downloading.  Got tired of that, so went with an Android box, fully setup by a guy here in Thailand.  That kept breaking, so went with a VERY basic KODI setup with just 2 addons.  Still, breaks fairly often...AND...you're not really getting HD content.

Now that I've got a 4k TV, I download only UHD content and it's amazing.  Video AND sound.  Kodi sucks compared to a high quality DL.

I'm not into sports, but can get live news easily as JT has pointed out.  For every day TV shows, Kodi is OK.  Just not for UHD content.

I should update on this.

Playing around I am finding certain channels that do stream extremely well on Modbro. In fact I'm finding that I'm not using livenewsnow anymore as Modbro is better.

Yes, Mobdro is great glad to hear it is working.

Just for info, you can search movies or TV shows that may not show on the app icons.

Enjoy it.

Interesting.  I've not had luck with Modbro.  But I'll give it another shot!  livenewsnow is just soooo easy. 5555.  Plus, can easily switch to a few other channels.

Thanks!!

Maybe you have a cheaper box or not enough internet speed to keep up with it.

Kodi gives you a list of options for viewing.  Yes, some are not as defined as others. But, if you click on others a good HD picture can usually be found from my experience.

Had it several years and love it.

Good for you like what you have now.

Yes, I can get those feeds.  But they are still very low quality compared to the DLs.  I only DL 4k, BR, etc.  Huge files which would be impossible to stream.  But for regular TV shows, works great!!!!  I'm a big fan of Kodi.  And yes, I should probably get a newer box.  Mine is at least 3 years old.

I use a couple of Kodi addons as well as Real debrid. Get many many 4k  links and watch content on Kodi and also Plex every day.

Seren and The Crew are a couple I use.  Kodi addons have always worked well for me.

Stopped downloading many many years ago. Seems redundant and time consuming to me.

But it works well for you so still an effective way of getting good quality content.
