Menopause specialist recommendations?

Featured Replies

I am 49 and in perimenopause with all the horrible symptoms and generally feeling terrible, and need a second opinion. I have already seen a doctor at Bumrungrad who is their menopause specialist, and am now on Progesterone, but am starting to feel bad again, and am not sure if I am on the right path or not, and am ready to start feeling normal again! Does anyone know of someone outside of Bumrungrad they can recommend? I am looking to go today. Thanks!

are you an real natural progesterone creme or do you take PROGESTIN, which is a synthetic patentable version but not real progesterone, but it is out of the mouth of your EXPERT.

did you test your other sex hormone levels ?  different types of estrogen, testosterone, dhea ?

I expect a long stint of silence from the married gents on this forum......

I'll take a seat on the bench and let the pros handle this one  ????

Very, very few doctors in Thailand with any expertise in bioidentical HRT and even fewer with expertise in managing peri-menopausal symptoms which are in any case different in that only progesterone, not combined estrogen-progesterone, is usually needed - though need to verify that you are not in fact in early menopause. Have they done an FSH? Are you still menstruating?

You pretty much need to DIY on this. Lots of info online.

Adding to the problem is that there is no commercially made natural progesterone creme available here. There is an oral form (Utrogestan) but this does not give even blood levels.

Many Thai doctors will prescribe a synthetic progestone which will definitley make peri-menopausal symptoms worse. They may even prescribe it plus estrogen which is doubly bad.

Some of the anti-aging clinics, and I think Bumrungrad, compound their own bioidentical progesterone (at high cost)

What exactly have you been prescribed?

And what exactly are your symptoms? (can send me a PM if you prefer)

You can get bioidentical progesterone from iherb. Emrita Pro-Gets is good   https://th.iherb.com/pr/Emerita-Pro-Gest-Balancing-Cream-Fragrance-Free-4-oz-112-g/4961

If as is common with peri-menopausal problems your main issue is PMDD, can try bioidentical progesterone  first but some women also need to take an SSRI like sertraline (I did). It can often be taken just half the month and at low dosage.

Where is Steven100 when we need him?

Op sounds too calm for it to be anything to do with menopause.????  (From experience).

Sorry Msturge, I can't help:

I have my own problems.

The 'male menopause'
  • mood swings and irritability.
  • loss of muscle mass and reduced ability to exercise.
  • fat redistribution, such as developing a large belly or "man boobs" (gynaecomastia)
  • a general lack of enthusiasm or energy.
  • difficulty sleeping (insomnia) or increased tiredness.
  • poor concentration and short-term memory.
  • Desire to buy a flashy car.
  • Looking at good looking girls.
  • please ad what are your symptoms.
