  • Definitely no...not for Thais anyway....open casinos and rake in money from foreigners.....want access? ...bring your non-Thai passport.   Run as a non-profit all proceeds go to welfare for

  • No, no, no! Gambling causes huge problems. Before COVID Thailand had >40m foreign tourists already. This would just make a few rich people richer and lots of poorer people bankrupt. Thailand alread

  • Thais can't handle gambling. Just like their drinking habits, they don't know how to have a couple, it's either nothing or all out. No to gambling.

Little point, hasn't a very highly placed individual just declared that there are no such gambling dens?

Then it must be true......

Absolutely yes! The state lottery is a form of gambling and that's legal, so why shouldn't other forms of gambling be legal too? These illegal gambling dens already exist and will continue to do so unregulated, so why not make them legal, regulate the activities and tax the profits? The state could do with the extra revenue.

You don't think they already "take" enough?

Prohibition rarely works as intended only makes gangsters rich.

Legalized it would be for the state/folk (in theory at least).

When I asked my Thai wife years ago why gambling isn't legal in Thailand her reply was that if it was, 95% of the population would spend their entire week's earnings in the 12 hours after it was handed to them at casinos, and be destitute for the rest of the week.

Since moving to Thailand, 2 Thai wives in our neighborhood of 40 homes have lost title to their homes to illegal casinos in the vicinity.

I vote no unless it's for foreign passport holders only. Thais don't need easier access to gambling.

It's time for Thais to get serious about policing corruption.

Thais are not known for doing things in moderation. The last thing this country needs while facing huge mounting piles of household debt is the 'opportunity' to win lots of cash. Just look at the obsession with the national lottery. Folks pay magical card reading shamans lot's of money to solve their problems and give them lucky numbers. This will only get worse with gambling.
