PM concerned about drunk driving during New Year holidays

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has expressed concerns about the increasing number of road accidents during the New Year holidays with drunk driving emerging as the leading cause, Government Spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said on Saturday.

14 checkpoints set up on routes from Bangkok to other provinces

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has ordered districts in the province to set up checkpoints on the routes that connect Bangkok to other provinces in a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19 during the New Year holidays.

Thai health officials seek lockdown of eastern region for 28 days

Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health will ask Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to impose lockdown restrictions on the entire eastern region of Thailand for 28 days, to stop the continuing surge of COVID-19 infections.

Restaurant association to ask Thai PM not to ban customers from dining-in

The Association of Thai Restaurants is against a measure, proposed by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), banning customers from dining in restaurants and food shops, claiming that this will further damage the business and force more redundancies.

National parks still open amidst COVID-19 venue closures

BANGKOK (NNT) - Tourists can still make trips to national parks across the country this long weekend, as none of the 155 national parks in Thailand was affected by recent disease control directives. National parks have however, implemented COVID-19 prevention measures which include daily disinfection of surfaces.

Phuket Red Cross calls for donations to help COVID afflicted

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Australia's most-populous state of New South Wales on Sunday reported eight new COVID-19 cases as new social distancing restrictions and mandatory mask wearing kicked in while neighbouring Victoria had three new cases.
