Airport officials are trying to establish how a man, who police said was under the influence of drugs, was able to breach security at Suvarnabhumi airport and drive his car onto the runway.

Footage of the incident, which took place on Thursday afternoon, showed the car  being escorted off the runway by airports officials. A plane could be seen in the background.

The driver was arrested and a search of his vehicle uncovered a quantity of  methamphetamine.

The man has been charged with entering a restricted area of an airport, illegal possession of drugs and driving under the influence of drugs.

In a statement, the Airports of Thailand confirmed the incident, saying the man was apprehended “quickly”.

I was going to post a picture of Mr. Magoo, but I'm not sure if it would have applied to the driver or the security staff

Bloody typical neither of them stop for the traffic lights ..

Looks like the OJ Simpson chase, only here 2 cops on a motorbike

following behind at 20 mile an hour, did not even try shooting the

tyres out....which they usually like doing.

I thought they tightened the rules for the renewal of driving licenses for large vehicles ????. Or did I misunderstand?

Makes you wonder how they can secure remote porous borders if they can't secure the countries main airport???

from personal experience  you can all do the same at U Tapao  there are open checkpoints with no gates or guards    o  that lead straight onto both the military area and the civilian aprons  amd runway fro  the main highway 3  road  ,,,

Thought for a moment that was my wife. With her driving skills I wouldn’t have been surprised.

“Is this Makro?”

Probably inspired by the character 'John Wick' and fancies himself as the Baba Yaga.

Some drivers go to ridiculous lengths to avoid car-parking charges.

Must be more to this story, perhaps he was a known employee, any other airport in the world the car would have been immediately riddled with a hail of bullets!

Maybe he was trying to get away without paying the new 300baht entrance fee?

Its where the satnav took me, honest.....

I hardly think so, certainly armed officers would present , but as they don't know what was in the vehicle they wouldn't open fire!!
