Covid-19: Thailand implements 'seal and bubble' strategy to curb transmission in factories

BANGKOK: Thailand is implementing the “seal and bubble” strategy to curb the spread of Covid-19 in factories in Samut Sakhon, the epicentre of the latest outbreak in the kingdom.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs deputy spokesman Natapanu Nopakun said for factories providing on-site accommodation for their workers, the “seal method” would be used to prevent the workers from leaving the factory compound.

For workers staying outside the factory compound, the “bubble method” would be used to allow officials to regulate the workers’ movements between their dormitories and workplace to prevent them from wandering off to other locations.

Reminds me of the returnees at the airport last year who were waiting to go to a quarantine hotel. IIRC they simply opened a door in a 'secure' airport area and wandered off into the mist.

Gotta keep the Thai fishing/export industry going.. lock them in like the Victorian work houses of old...

Disgraceful.

They are probably daily wage earners, so if factories close, their wages stop. If you were in their shoes - would you rather suffer through this crappy accommodation which probably isn't much worse than one you were in, provided by the factory normally, and still get meals and get paid, or would you prefer to be locked in your own place, with no food and no money?

Maybe those that have said the factories are all inclusive need to understand that they are not, just as the quote points out.  Still sealed in and treated like lepers.  What about the Thais, are they free to roam and move in and out of Samut Sakhon as well as the factory areas here in western Bangkok.

This becomes a dystopian form of fascism where corporations protect their factory productivity by dismantling the basic human rights of the workers with the blessings of the government.  What a sad, sad 'new normal' era where governments and corporations prey on the average citizens of the world.  This is the tip of the iceberg.
As Klause Schwab's WEF states: "You'll own nothing and you'll be happy."
Translated:
You be shackled to your machine on the factory floor and you'll be happy to be alive.

Very ugly times are coming.

It  would almost certainly not be the same restrictions for the Thai Managers and Office Staff in these Factories.

They would be allowed Home every evening to their Families and friends, spreading Covid where ever they go. Sure, they will be asked to go straight Home with no stops at the Market , 7/11 or any Bar / Restaurant, but has been demonstrated well in the past, Thais do not like to be told what to do.

Of more concern now would be the emergence of a new outbreak in the Western Suburbs of Bangkok, and many are not in the Factories but Beauty Salons Etc .
