BANGKOK (NNT) - To limit the spread of COVID-19 in schools and other educational institutions, the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Education have introduced six core and six supplementary measures, further encouraging and helping students to carry on with their lives in the new normal era.

The Assistant Secretary to the Public Health Minister, together with executives of the Department of Health and the Ministry of Education, visited Taweethapisek School in Bang Khun Thian district, Bangkok.

The school was closed on December 21 last year, as it is located near an area hit by the COVID-19 outbreak. Classes will resume on February 22 this year.

Officials have instructed the school to prepare the disease-control measures, including the six core and six supplementary measures.

The six core measures include practicing social distancing, wearing face masks at all times, washing hands with soap and water as well as alcohol gel, conducting temperature and history assessment, reducing crowding and disinfecting common surfaces.

The six supplementary measures include following the measures strictly, using serving spoons when eating with other people, eating freshly cooked food, registering with Thai Chana or clearly writing their names when entering or leaving venues, checking students and others arriving from at-risk areas, and self-quarantining for 14 days after visiting at-risk areas.

Taweethapisek School will conduct both on-site and online teaching. Students are divided into two groups, so that they can take classes on alternate days. Class sizes are limited to 25 people.

The Ministry of Public Health has reminded the school to strictly follow the Public Health measures and conduct daily assessments.
