Thailand plans to allow foreign tourists to quarantine in resorts

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's tourism minister said on Thursday he will propose a plan for foreigners to undertake COVID-19 quarantine in popular tourist areas, including beach resorts, in a bid to help revive the country's struggling tourism sector.

Police quiet on probe into officer attempting to flee scene of drunk-driving accident

PHUKET:-- A veil of silence has been dropped on the investigation into an accident last month that involved a drunken Phuket police officer who tried to flee the scene in his car after hitting one car, sending it colliding into another car in front.

Thailand ranked 3rd in ASEAN on Economic Freedom Index

Thailand ranked 3rd in ASEAN, 9th among 40 Asia-pacific countries and 42nd in the World on the most recent on Economic Freedom index. Singapore tops the list for the second consecutive year, followed by New Zealand and Australia.

Two Miss Grand International beauty contestants found infected with COVID-19

Two beauty queens, from Nigeria and Kenya, who are in Thailand for the Miss Grand International (MGI) beauty pageant, have tested positive for COVID-19 and are now being treated at Piyavate Hospital in Bangkok.

NICOSIA (Reuters) - Cyprus will allow British tourists who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 into the country without restrictions from May 1, its tourism minister said on Thursday.

‘Commando police’ arrest Phuket construction worker for stealing gun from policeman 15 years ago

The “commandos” arrested 57-year-old Jamkat Sriwawong on Wednesday (Mar 3), one of the arresting officers told The Phuket News.

 

PHUKET: A construction worker in Koh Kaew has been arrested by officers from the Royal Thai Police Special Service Division, which calls itself the “Commando” division, for a gun he stole from a police officer’s house in Nakhon Ratchasima 15 years ago.
