PHUKET:-- Expats throughout Phuket will be offered COVID vaccinations under the government’s mass-vaccination rollout now underway in Phuket, a leading Phuket official confirmed today (Mar 31).

Dr Chalermpong, Director of Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket Town, delivered the news during a press conference broadcast live online earlier today.

As director of the island’s leading government hospital on the island, Dr Chalermpong is a key member of the Phuket Communicable Disease Committee, which is responsible for drafting and implementing all COVID-19 policies in Phuket.

As an ageing UK educated expat here and restricted from travelling to Dubai (where I have residency visa and access to vacvine) or even UK, I have to say it is good news for me. I will do my utmost to get vaccinated.

Most people who get vaccines or medication during their lifetimes never ask where it comes from or for sure never realistically check the paperwork always included which discusses, amongst other things, potential side effects etc. Every medication has a potential for side effects but the numbers are tiny so why suddenly look so closely and be scared by the same tiny numbers involved in Covid 19 vaccines, a vaccine, which like other vaccines, has been proven to work.

what is sorry but ......... my guess is you are from Europe and a big Macron fan

Macron came off with some massively stupid nonsense and so did the EU commission - they failed big time get over it - meanwhile the UK and US are rolling out an effective vaccine program while the EU commission try to blame everyone else for their failures - if it wasn't so serious it would be quite funny

these vaccines have been developed using very new science

there are some experts that are claiming that rolling out such vaccines during the pandemic is a massive error, I don't know and the scary thing is that they don't know either - they think they do

With such a small amount of deaths to Covid in Thailand why would you risk it?

I know of 1 person for sure that has died from a blood clot after having the astra zeneca jab. But it's not being reported, he was only 32 years old too 😢

Think carefully before you sign up to life long 4 times a year unsafe injections..

They are doing under 60’s first. Says so in the article. That’s the “sorry but”. Nothing at all to do with macron or anyone else elsewhere in the world.

They are offering what seem to be the 2 most controversial vaccines Astrazeneca and Sinovac.

Good luck to those expats in Phuket.

I would rather take astra zeneca over all the others!

Exactly. When I joined the RAF in 1964 we were immediately lined up for every vaccine known to man, whether you had them before or not, no paperwork or discussion.

It was done in alphabetical order so each time it was the same guy in front of me, always fainted as soon as he saw the needle. He lives in NZ now and we still joke about it.

I'm guessing that contrary to Macron's warning, the Phuket health officials have decided to offer Sinovac only to the under 60s, hence the reason the over 60s are being delayed, waiting for Astra Zeneca.

But of course they might have a totally different agenda!

Nothing very controversial with Astrazeneca, apart from EU trying to politicise the issue. Give me Astrazeneca any day! Sinovac? Thanks, but, no thanks! Luckily Thailand decided to stay clear of Sputnik, though I'm sure the General would go for it if Putin made a decent enough offer.

Because if you had a basic understanding of statistics you’d realize the risks associated with catching Covid are far,far greater than getting blood clots ,which ironically is a symptom of Covid! The incidence of blood clots suffered by vaccinated are either the same or less as would occur normally within the population. Now you understand the difference between causation and correlation...?

Who exactly are those 'experts' saying vaccination is an error? Every single statistic both from the trials and where it’s been rolled are favorable (even the blood clotting). You do understand comparative risk - where the risks of being vaccinated are far less than the risks of the real alternative of catching Covid ?

It's sad that a person has died following a vaccine. I guess it's possible (and quite likely probable) that the clot was forming pre-vaccine, but without the facts it's impossible to know. But, on the other hand, millions haven't died. I take a far greater risk than getting a jab every time I leave my home, but I don't stop leaving my home.

All my family in the U.K. have had the AZ with no effects a lot after scare mongering going on I’d rather the AZ than the Chinese or Russian vaccine by the way the Thai PM and his Ministers had the AZ vaccine some 10 days ago

There is only one thing that is guaranteed on the day we are born and that is one day we will die what happens in the meantime is anyone’s guess  there is more chance of dying if you get the virus than having the vaccine I know which I would choose

Where did you dig up this "fact", only thing I've ever seen is annual boosters (like flu jabs) being muted as a possibility?

Garbage.

You claim that your "friend" died of an AZ caused blood clot. Ok.  Did the autopsy actually state this?

You make claim, but you cannot back it up with fact can you. Maybe you just want to sabotage vaccine roll out, yes?

Maybe there is a clotting issue associated with the Italian sourced doses.  It is strange that in the UK where so many millions have been dosed it is not an issue. Other countries which have administered large numbers of doses have not reported any deaths.  Canada has  given out 500,000 AZ type vaccine doses from India with several hundred thousand within the 20 day risk period and has monitored closely, but no deaths.

Where do you get 4 times a year for unsafe injections? None of the approved vaccines requires 4 doses.

your guess is probably as good as anybody else, some will be very upbeat and optimistic others will be at the other extreme, only thing I see for certain is confusion and uncertainty.

I will wait for the Gold Standard Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, thank you from a private hospital.

If you opt for the Pfizer and Moderna you are opting for novel mRNA technology that is experimental gene therapy, not a true vaccine. They are by no means an established ‘gold standard’. I certainly will not risk taking either of them.

The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine uses a chimpanzee adenovirus vector genetically engineered to express the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein instead. I’m not too happy with that one either, but I particularly don’t trust AstraZenica in light of the documented criminal practices that have been exposed throughout their history. The non-profit organization ‘Corporate Research Project’ writes that the company:

“…has been embroiled in numerous controversies over illegal marketing, product safety, anticompetitive behavior and tax avoidance”. You can read the long list yourself by looking up AstraZenica: Corporate Rap Sheet.

Criminal history including for example:

In 2010, the company settled more than 25,000 lawsuits filed by patients harmed by three of its psychiatric drugs, paying out $198 million.

Then in 2016, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission fined the company $4.3 million for bribery (improperly influencing and rewarding doctors to use their products).

Sorry to say that I don't trust any pharmaceutical companies and I never jump in feet first whenever a doctor suggests this or that drug (or vaccine). I do my research and I look for tried and tested safe alternatives, if they exist.

Because this vaccine hasn't been FDA approved. They have never been able to produce a coronavirus vaccine in over 20 years without all the animals dying. They gave up but this time the vaccine has been released under emergency use which bypasses the 5 to 10 year trials. You will be the trial for a virus with a 99.64% survival rate.
