Sounds like you are seeing similar pictures of what I saw in my timeline.   

I found three dots in upper right hand of picture.  Touched dots.  Menu popped up with:

I had to go through and repeat with every picture that I would not want my granddaughter to see.  I have not seen any pictures since.  

This was some months ago.  I think the pictures of scantily clad or near nude women that were appearing in my timeline were being "liked" by someone in my friends list (who is no longer in my friends list, he is an ex employee). 

He was clicking "like" on pictures from people that were not in my friends list.  I think I was also able to "hide" any likes or posts by those unknown persons as well.  

I have not seen any undesirable pictures since then.
