Health officials in Korat have announced restrictions for anyone visiting from five so-called ‘high risk’ areas.

Effective immediately, anyone visiting Korat, otherwise known as Nakhon Ratchasima, from Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan needs to undergo a 14 day quarantine or take a rapid COVID-19 test.

The rapid COVID-19 test costs 600 baht, Naewna reported.

It wasn’t immediately clear how officials intended to enforce the quarantine requirement or testing, presumably roadblocks would be set up on entry points to the province.

The news comes as officials in Buriram and Bueng Kan provinces also announced a 14 day quarantine for visitors from the aforementioned provinces.

On Wednesday, one of the country’s leading virologists said the highly contagious UK variant of the virus has now been detected in Thailand.

" ..... needs to undergo a 14 day quarantine or take a rapid COVID-19 test."

In the past the boys would threaten with the addition "OR BOTH".

"The rapid COVID-19 test costs 600 baht" - the slower version costs ten times more and might even be effective. Inspirational, every day a new idea on how to extort money!
