Who lives on 20k a month ?
All I can say is from reading many of these posts is I count my blessings that I don’t have to live in Thailand the way many have to. -

Do you flaunt your wealth in Thailand?
No, I don't. And, wouldn't wherever I live. I have no interest in a Rolex watch or flashy jewelry. Never have. Or, over-priced, expensive, status automobiles. I remember some years ago there was a thread on luxury cars and I posted that I didn't have any interest in spending 3MB for a German automobile when my vehicle at the time--a Honda CR-V--served me perfectly well, at exactly half the cost. Someone responded back that, no, I was lying and if I actually had 3MB to spend and was not, in reality, poor as a church mouse I would certainly be buying that German automobile--or something to that effect. I thought the reply was ridiculous--especially since it presumed that everyone must have a burning desire to own and drive a German automobile because, apparently, that was what the poster coveted most, and owned. If they say they don't, according to the poster, it's because they can't afford one. Sour grapes. Instead of German automobiles or Rolexes, my spouse and I have a Bangkok getaway condo. Can't drive it, or wear it, but it gives us more enjoyment than either a status watch or car would. But, that's just us. It always comes down to whatever floats your boat, and never one size fits all. -

What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2024)
Just watched the Dutch version with English subtitles. It was an ok watch, but we didn't think it was anywhere near as good as the previous Ferry movie or the Undercover series. -

Three Sentenced to Death for Murder and Dismemberment of German Businessman in Pattaya
Generally speaking, that name would be spelt as Olof and not Olaf in Sweden. So I doubt he was/is Swedish. -

Expiration (not) of Thai native's Thai driving license.
Not quite as simple as 182 days and your out.........or so I thought? The standard residency tests allow you to be out of the country for longer as long as you fulfil other criteria? Property in the UK, ties to the UK, no property abroad, returning to live in the UK property you own......that kind of stuff? -

new US law set to eliminate WEP penalty for SSA retirement benefits
Well, they got it done. The Senate passed a continuing resolution that would keep the government open. At the same time, the Senate voted to approve the legislation about the WEP and GFPO as it was approved in the house. Schumer invoked cloture and limited debate on amendments which were proposed by some Republicans trying to kill the bill. They had separate votes on the original bill and on the amendments. All the amendments failed but the bill as passed in the house was approved. Biden has probably already signed the legislation by now. -

My wifey lost her job
Is the Op not a Canadian Citizen ??? - IF not, what nationality / citizenship do you 'imagine' he holds ??? As a Canadian, the Ops Wife can obtain PR while outside of Canada (under Outland Sponsorship') and can receive her PR card in Canada, it would usually take 2-3 months and she would have to remain there. As you pointed out the Op said his Wife was there for 2 weeks (Op - reconfirm ?). Travel is permitted without a PR card with the issuance of Permanent Resident Travel Document (while awaiting for the card to be delivered to a Canadian address). Thus: Its not impossible for the Ops wife to be in the situation she is and holding a PR card having only been in Canada for a short period of time. Yep - seems I do know better, or rather, the info you posted can be contradicted. Whether or not the Op is trolling - thats remains to be seen, the info he's posted is not impossible.
