Six million Thais rendered jobless by COVID-19 pandemic – ThaiHealth

About six million Thais have been rendered jobless, since the COVID-19 pandemic struck Thailand early last year, and 1.3 million university and college graduates are unlikely to find jobs or have opportunities to develop their capabilities, according to Khempetch Lenaphan of Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) on Friday.

Health Ministry Urges People in High-risk Areas to Work from Home

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Ministry of Public Health is urging people living in high-risk areas to work from home or stay put for two weeks to curtail the upward trajectory of Covid-19 cases that is expected to skyrocket after the Songkran Festival.

Thai PM says no lockdowns or curfews yet

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha assured today (Friday) that the government will not yet impose lockdowns or curfews in order to contain the COVID-19 spread, adding that he felt the pain every time such restrictions were imposed in the past, because they hurt a lot of people, especially low income, grassroots people.

Thailand expects no broad economic impact after U.S. keeps it on currency watch list

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's central bank said on Saturday it did not see an impact on business or its ability to implement macroeconomic policies to safeguard financial stability after Washington kept it on a U.S. currency monitoring list.

Phuket concludes Seven Days road-safety campaign for Songkran with one dead, 21 injured

PHUKET: Phuket last night concluded its Seven Days of Danger road-safety campaign for the Songkran Thai New Year holidays with 21 officially recognised accidents that resulted in one death and 20 people requiring hospital treatment.
