The BiB or Boys in Brown are set to become the BiK or Boys in Khaki if a new uniform being trialled meets with force and public approval.

The initiative for patrol officers is the brainchild of new RTP chief General Suwat Chaengyodsuk. He feels that the current uniform is not sufficiently functional.

The new one is made of thinner khaki colored material and will permit more air flow and allow greater movement, reported INN News.

Thirty of the uniforms are being trailled at three metropolitan stations who have got ten each.

The public in the jurisdictions of Bang Yi Khan, Bukkhalo and Chakrawat stations will be asked their opinion of the new styles.

Further details were set to be given today by Pol Gen Manu Maekmork deputy commander of the met force.

The old style of uniform will be kept for many officers no matter what is decided for the patrol cops.

As much ridicule as people will want to throw at this just because it involves the Thai Police.... This is actually a good idea, providing more comfortable uniforms.

IMO - they look better too.

That said, others will point out and they won’t be wrong - this will in no way improve policing !!!

Straight jackets would look even better, that way they can not hold their hands out for bribes.

that will be a first.

If it allowed much, much less movement than at present, maybe it would prevent them sitting on their backsides so often.

Surely they could chose a uniform that looks more police and less army?

Why?

The RTP is frequently recognized as the fourth armed force of Thailand since their tradition, concept, culture, skill, and training are relatively similar to the army and most of their officer cadets need to graduate from the Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School before entering the Royal Thai Police Cadet Academy. Officers also undergo paramilitary training similar to the army but with an additional focus on law enforcement.

What a fortunate stroke of luck that the new RTP chief General has family, or friends, or colleagues, or creditors....who just happen to own a "sufficiently functional" uniform factory.

Genius, absolute genius, their  outfits  are  totally  unsuitable for a hot   humid  climate.

Well hopefully if as you say it is true, then they will become so debilitated they will start dying in droves, you know just like the flying termites do for a few hours at night till their wings fall off. ????
