My Exalted Thai Wife

Please post a pic of the ceremony if you can.  Also please tell her that she is truly a TRUE THAI and that she more than deserves the awards that she gets.

I don't really see the need to talk about it but hey, congrats.   You must be one of the legendary "I married a hi-so Chula grad" posters on here?    RAZZ

Many congratulations. You should both be proud.   By contrast I've seen some mixed couples where the Thai lady's fourth class companion closely resembles a white elephant.

my wife has worked for the government many years hasn't got a medal like this.. congratulations. .but in saying that she has more medals on her uniform than George Patton 555 ain't got a clue what the hell for

Not the 'Royal Order of Water Buffalos', but a close second perhaps.

Always a pleasure to hear about one's achievements.

Congrats to both of you.

Government work is typically unforgiving and thankless.

Bravo Zulu to you and yours!

Chris, a lucky husband!

Congrats to the exalted one. What's your own story then?

Thank you very much.

As it relates to the selected quote, We met on Tagged nearly four years ago - married a year later.

Our personalities match very well even though our background of origins and culture couldn't be more different. We have a relationship of "togetherness" in just about all matters of daily life, finding peace, harmony, balance and general love and happiness with each others company.

My "story" goes back 76 years, so please excuse me if I spend the next three years describing it all to you...

I wasn't born great, I haven't achieved greatness and I haven't had greatness thrust upon me! But I can assure you I have had much more than my share of the "allotted" 15 minutes"

Regards

Chris

Thailand, the hub of medals ???? I am always amazed how everyone working for the government has many medals on their uniforms. Everyone must have at least a few, like here: thai-government-officials-official-unifo.

Not everyone! My original post has no special merit if it were everybody.

Congrats Jeab.

My friend, an American, ex CIA, US Embassy got one for his work on the border during the Laos war. It was very helpful during the Tom Yam Gunk crisis when his bank would exchange his dollars, he showed this ward and the complied immediately.

Congratulations to your wife. A Great accomplishment.

It seems you married one of those young girls of barely fifty if that, same as I did.
(When telling someone in London on the phone I was marrying a young girl I got "you dirty <deleted>" snapped at me, a few minutes later my colleague could not contain his curiosity and enquired about age ???? )
My wife has a few Medals and Honors on her Uniform as well and I think it is cool.
The typical Western mentality questions as to a possible correlation between wages and rewards was answered with "that is different" ????

Good Luck to both of you,
Stay Happy Together.

Thank you for your "take" on it.

Jeab is 62 now so not a young one. In her youth and middle age she was a pretty girl but she is still beautiful now and carries herself well.

From the OP

What a response I have had! Thank you so much everyone for the almost unanimous positive reaction to my post that at first I would not write at all!

My motivation arose from my initial research after hearing the news from Jeab about the award, to understand if these were two a penny or special. It is special! Being a “Most Exalted” anything is not for mortals such as I.

Why tell the Forum?

I see this forum as a Community, albeit of mainly men and effectively strangers. I read much more than I comment here and I learn a lot. A member myself for 8 years has given me a good insight about many matters Thai, much of it outside Visa aspects, concerning Thai women and how Members perceive and react accordingly.

You have heard it all before, my girl is different!! I think that of Jeab but I wouldn't shout that from the rooftops. In saying this, I know and appreciate that I am not the only one to be happy with my Thai wife and read often on here who say that unequivocally, as being true of them.
But the overall trend is to believe that Thai women are in it for the money and I think that is true, though I prefer to call it, “to pursue a course of economic advancement”. Yes, I am playing semantics. Others may say it is about Predators and Prey, where prey is the foreigner!

My post, I think is something new on the forum so I decided to air it and see what happened.

The plaudits and congratulations are coming to me but I have been only patient and understanding in Jeab's needs to do her important work, something I knew well about before we committed to each other. She wants me to thank you for your kind reactions and comments – and yes, she loves the humour too, about “White Elephants”. I am not the “white elephant neither am I “the elephant in the room”

Some have asked about a ceremony. I think there will be one but Covid is getting in the way of many things, and ceremonies of this kind will be on a back burner for a while.

One more thing that you maybe wondering; Jeab is not hi-so by a long way. She is not from the elite or privileged class, she was born to average parents, her Mother a teacher all her life (and never receiving any awards)  and Father a soldier in the Thai Army with a modest career. They were not rich and she is not rich now!  And neither am I.

Some have said I am lucky and to some extent that is true. But Jeab tells me she is the one to feel lucky, her friends, a few remaining relatives and numerous of her students have echoed that, so the two of us feel lucky about being chosen by the other. That is a lovely feeling and is very heartwarming.

Thank you again for your part in sharing with us this lovely occasion and wish you all well in these Covid times.

Regards Chris and Jeab
