Kampong Chhnang provincial authorities have decided to build a crematorium to bury fatalities arising from Covid-19. This was fueled by the recent case of a Covid-19 female fatality who was denied cremation rights at a pagoda by citizens and monks.

Seng Vichet, Deputy Governor of Rolea Bier District, Kampong Chhnang Province, confirmed that the location where the authorities will  build a crematorium  for the cremation of Covid-19 fatalities  was a forest location in  Damnak Kei Village, Cheung Kreav Commune Rolea Bier community, which is about 3 kilometers from Damnak Key village. The site measures 50 square meters  and is deemed to be suitable.

He added that the construction of the pavilion is necessitated as in Kampong Chhnang province, there is currently no suitable place for cremation of Covid-19 patients, because in the pagodas, the people and monks are not allowed to take the corpses of Covid-19 to be cremated in the pagoda.
