Moderna vaccine will be available at private hospitals for 3,000 baht - but you'll still need to register

Each hospital will consider their own charges for giving the jab and a charge for insurance in case of adverse reactions needed to be levied on the first dose.

Even more obscene. What will it  be another 10k?

If expats have to register then fix the system to accept passport details.

First shot only arm pain

2nd Shot was slightly ill with a mild reaction for a day.

2 weeks later tested positive for Covid19 anti-bodies.

I'll just leave that little cookie right here for y'all

Expand

"Absolutely free"...how much did you pay in federal, state, and city income taxes last year; not to mention property taxes, which fund many county health departments administering the vaccinations? I'll pay the $100-$200 for my vaccine jab in Thailand (where there are none of those taxes for most expats), while you lucky ones enjoy "free" vaccines in the U.S., UK, and elsewhere.

What about those who pay significant taxes in Thailand???

IF you want to make a point, at least make a balanced point.

Even so, he expected that PHA member hospitals would charge a total of 3,000 baht to administer the complete two dose set.

Can the  article contradict itself  anymore. 2000 a  jab   or do they need the calculator.

Moderna is getting interesting. But it will probably be locked out until AZ is fully out in the multiple double digit millions.

These foreigners would be who exactly...I can't really think of any off hand. The only tax all foreigners pay is the 7% VAT on goods and services (just like Thais); and at some point, the government has said foreigners will be eligible for free vaccines too. I am just making the obvious point that "free" vaccines aren't free anywhere.

He's talking about flying HKT-SIN-SFO on SQ.

You can transit SIN.

With the current online tools the majority of expats can't register. Thanks a bunch!

No telling, but there is an anti no jab movement going on in the USA now.

3,000 ~ 4,000 is a lot less than I was expecting (6,500 - 10,000 all in).

Again price is less of an issue, for me (and most I imagine). It''s more about availability.

Anyone thinking the price of Moderna will be say 2,000 or 3,000 or 4,000 baht are seriously delusional, why, because I received the Flu jab 600 baht, the Pneumonia Jab 2,600 baht, now the Pneumonia booster jab, 4,840 baht, the above vaccines are not a scarce commodity as are the Covid 19 vaccines, so anyone thinking the price is going to be between 2,000, 3,000 4,000 baht, think again, maybe each dose, add to that Dr fee, nurse fee, and hospital admin fees, will be about another 1,000 to 2,000 baht, so worst case scenario 10,000 baht, best case scenario 5,000 baht.

Either way, if it's going to save your life

I don’t think they are engaging with private entities.  They are are allowing them to import it in.

Why would Moderna have an issue dealing with private enterprise? They are a private company. They will sell to anyone with cash. Of course, when it will be available is a different story. Tier 1 countries pre-ordered most of their supply.

If they sell privately they will lose all indemnity offered through selling to governments only.

The chief of the Private Hospital Association of Thailand has said that the Moderna vaccine against Covid-19 will definitely be available in his members'  hospitals.

But he didn't say when.  Moderna has a very long backlog of orders.  Philippines placed an order 4 months ago, and they will get their first shipment next month.  In a recent deal with covax, moderna will deliver the vaccine in Q1 2022.

If Thailand finally placed an order with moderna today, they would probably get the vaccine in Q2 2022.

With any luck and the onset of vaccination passports they will be prevented from international travel.

I for one will be quite happy if the Anti-vaxxers remove themselves from the pool of international travel.

We’ll come across far fewer nutters in Thailand !!! ????

It has been mentioned on another topic that Moderna would only deal with the Thai government directly..
