Thaksin's wrong! Pfizer jab is not registered in Thailand - FDA mention jail terms

Featured Replies

The secretary of the Thai Food and Drug Administration said that the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccination had not yet been registered in Thailand.

He said that former Thai prime minister and exiled fugitive Thaksin Shinawatra was wrong in saying it was now in Thailand.

Phaisan Dankhum said that Pfizer were still negotiating with the government and would only sell through them.

This is expected "soon" he said.

So far the only vaccines that have FDA approval are AstraZeneca, Johnson and Johnson and Sinovac.

Anyone using other vaccines would face financial penalties or up to three years in jail, reported Sanook yesterday.

Just because it has not been registered yet does not mean that a black market batch may have been brought in.  Maybe Embassies have their own supply of it and have used it on their own folks.  Easy to bring it in via attache.

yeas jail everybody who says something the Government doesn't like.. They are criminals with a proof of yesterdays ruling of a drugbaron as MP

Thaksin didn't say it was registered.

Hypothetically speaking, if the Pfizer vaccine existed in Thailand, it was probably privately imported from the UAE rather than bought from Pfizer directly, and if so, would be hypothetically available in some private clinics.

Contrast that to Lao and other countries freely vaccinating everyone. There is something deeply wrong with the Thai vaccine story.

Why is anyone listening to anything a former PM says?

It is the same with every country. You can’t just import any vaccine and/or drug into a country without FDA approval.

So some people at the US embassy will go to jail?

Any significant amount of a vaccine that needs to be kept at super cold temperatures would be difficult to avoid detection IMO.

Just thought....this is the -70C vaccine........that will be a major headache for Thailand.......I can't see it making its way any further than central Bangkok.

A box full of vaccines is all that's needed and is easily transported.  Pfizer has created such a system to keep it at the temperature needed and in a small box.

How Pfizer plans to keep its vaccine at subarctic temperatures during transport - CBS News

CBS News got an inside look at the logistical challenges of getting Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine to the public, including a required storage temperature you would find in the coldest places on Earth.

Colder than Antarctica in winter, dry ice — made from carbon dioxide — is crucial for moving and storing these vaccines. Pfizer's vaccine needs to be kept at 94 degrees below zero Fahrenheit. Dry ice helps maintain the subarctic temperature during shipping.

Pfizer developed a thermal shipper, which they call a "cool box," for the trip. It's about the size of a carry-on suitcase.

Flight on a designated carrier to BKK, then an embassy car with escort from the Airport to the embassy and into storage there until inoculation time of the citizens in the compound.  Easily doable and has been done in the past with other injectables.  Those embassies are not technically in Thailand, but actually the territory of the country that has the embassy.

He was the only PM in Thai history who was freely elected in a legal democratic vote and was PM for 4 years. Not only that but he was re-elected for a second term.

He was only removed from power by coup.

His sister, Yingluck was also elected in a free and legal democratic election and she was also removed by a military coup.

Under each of them, Thailand was a much richer and happier country.
