If you look at the graph, you see that NY has positive rates ranging from 0% to 5.5% just like Bangkok.

 

Diseases like covid do not arise uniformly in the population, they spread and form clusters.  Positive rate of a cluster is not the same as a positive rate for all of Bangkok or Thailand.

 

Other than that, your comparison of Bangkok and NY is spot on. Hopefully that will wake up some.

Keep is mind, the outreach testing in BKK isnt the ONLY testing they're doing. It's special outreach testing. All the hospitals and clinics and such are still doing the regular patient based testing as they've been doing all along. So you'd need to add those numbers to the outreach testing numbers for BKK to get an apples to apples comparison...  (get that? or maybe apples to mangos?  ????

I do realize that PUI testing in Bangkok is separate. My point was despite a 2.4% positive rate they still mass test in high numbers to get a true picture of the situation.

Outreach and random testing possibly?, If so they will possibly find more and more positive cases.  If this was a follow-up for track and tracing a case that walked into the hospital it shows there are all sorts of infected areas out there.  Time for Thailand to get ahead of the cases that are popping up......

Three national footballers, five staff test positive for Covid at training camp

 

The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) on Saturday suspended training of the national football team after three players and five staffers tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday. The eight were found to be infected during training at a football camp. One of the players was a female.

 

According to doctors, the infection could have happened before or after their last Covid-19 test on April 30, and despite all the players and staff receiving the first dose of vaccine.

 

The FAT said that the timeline and information on the infected people had been given to the Ministry of Public Health. Other players and staff have been told to quarantine.

Of course it makes a difference. I guess your from the UK and take it personally. Its just a name UK strain does not mean it comes directly from the UK. They think it came over the land borders from an other country.

He said the first priority will be to increase vaccine doses to 150 million doses or more and to prepare for any risk related to those vaccines, adding that the government had set a target of buying 100 million doses to inoculate 50 million Thais and thus create herd immunity.

Having targets is great...  actually getting the vaccine doses in hand/arm would be a whole lot better...  But it looks like they're finally getting the message.

Lot of hot air coming from the PM. Its a lot of vaccines but no deals have been made nor are they effectively vaccinating now on the levels they want. They AIM but never put in real figures. Always trying to look good while having messed up.

 

Vaccines should have been ordered long ago but no Thailand wanted certain people to reap the benefits. Now the whole populations suffers. I bet going partly for Shinovac that is not so effective has nothing to do with CP being part of Shinovac.

Do you think they are still tracking and tracing "all" positive cases and placing all close contacts into self isolation?Because trying to do that many each day has got to be pretty tricky.

I agree. Now they are just going house to house since it appears many are infected in those areas.

When Melbourne, Au reached ~ 1000 cases per day they went into HARD lockdown that lasted 112 days. Currently that state has zero daily positive from testing. Few days ago another state WA had ~ 2 or 3 test positive and went into 3 day lockdown. Sydney recently had couple of + tests and other states of Oz banned entries from some areas. 

Bangkok is not in lockdown. Far from it.

Granted different countries so comparison is over simplifying the issue.

 

You can't compare Victoria with Thailand. At the moment all the neighbouring countries have plenty of covid cases, and the borders are quite porous. If they do a full lockdown and bring the cases back to zero, it would be a matter of time to get some covid from the neighbours again.

 

 

This MoPH chart is showing the total number of adverse vaccine reactions Thailand has recorded/recognized since beginning COVID vaccinations Feb. 27 through May 7:  13 out of 1.73 million doses given, and no deaths deemed related to vaccine use.
