The CCSA conducted 220,406 proactive tests in Bangkok & surrounding provinces between April 1 - May 8 which resulted in 4,024 cases. On average, they are conducting more than 8,000 proactive tests & would found at least 250 per day.

This is what you said

"Let's say all the numbers are faked."

That does not equate to people saying the numbers are faked, its you making a hypothetical statement. Again I've not seen anyone saying they are throwing out fake numbers, unrealistic due to testing constraints but not fake.

So a 1.8% positivity rate.

The trouble is that the situation with private hospitals is still unclear. Bangkok Hospital, for example, won't even accept registration, as they say that they don't know when they will be able to have the vaccination. I really don't mind the costs, as long as I can get vaccinated, and soon!

Tragic.

Thailand plans to waive mandatory quarantine for vaccinated visitors to Bangkok and top tourist destinations from October, to revive a key industry battered by COVID-19 travel curbs

So why am I going to be locked up in an ASQ hotel for 15 days next month? How is my Pfizer vaccine going to be any different in October from how it is now, other than being 4 months older and thus probably less effective?

Oh wait  I forgot... I have no choice but come to Thailand and therefore can be tapped for the extra expense. But the tourists wouldn't stand for it and so their money would go elsewhere.

There's no science involved in any of this. It's about milking the cash cows.

Because some people are saying the numbers are fake.

There is a difference when someone says that they do not believe the numbers being presented to them saying the numbers are fake.  Please understand that many of us still do not believe the numbers are accurate, however with saying that the numbers presented as well as the numbers tested have remained consistent with swings up and down and are indicative that if many more are tested the numbers will swing upwards.  Post a link to a posters post showing that the numbers are faked please.  There may be one or two out there I am sure you can find, but then it's not myself that has called them out but you, so the burden of proof is upon you to show your not just talking trash and posting without having facts.

The results of a proactive detection of #COVID19 in Klong Toey community in #Bangkok 27 April to 8 May 2021: Summary of SWAB examination results of 16,131 cases The result is negative: 8,870 cases The result is positive: 477 cases * Waiting for 6,784 results

That's a hell of a lot of tests to be waiting on.  Wonder what the backlog is when I know of other countries that can process 50,000 tests a day.  Are there that few labs that can be certified, and is only the MOPH lab processing these tests.

Businesses in Thailand’s coastal province of Samut Sakhon are being sternly warned that they will face stiff legal action and closure if they are found to be hiring illegal migrant workers, following reports that some are being smuggled to the province and the capital.

5-6 times stronger than the Kent variant? No evidence of that.

It is interesting to compare the attitudes in Thailand and the UK. In the UK Covid is being waved goodbye and people beleive normality is just around the corner.

In Thailand a potential armaggedon awaits. It is the vaccination rates that make the difference.

United Kingdom ???????? 128,000 deaths

Thailand ???????? 382 deaths. (Yesterday's figures. )

https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/deaths

I know where life has been more normal during the pandemic. And now, after loosing 336 times more people than Thailand (out of a similar size population and of course with many times over the financial, scientific, technological, governmental, and manufacturing resources) Britons can begin to return to normal. Well done UK.

Meanwhile, in Texas 75,000 rock up for a boxing match.

The difference between the 2 countries being that although all countries under report, for a variety of reasons, the under reporting in Thailand is much greater than in the UK.

Far better to look at trends. Cases rising in Thailand (record highs), falling in the UK (lowest figures this year).

Texas? Still in the grip of Trump mania, I fear there's no hope for them.

Did he say that many of the new infections in Bangkok were from illegal migrant workers so they are beefing up borders?I listened twice and I'm sure that's what he said.

Please understand that many of us still do not believe the numbers are accurate

The numbers are never accurate, anywhere, ever. It's simply not possible to get accurate numbers during an outbreak unless you test everybody which is never done.

Test results are merely a reflection of the testing done, you could perhaps approach accuracy if you're doing truly large scale mass testing but that itself brings a new set of problems, people who have already recovered still have remnants of virus in their body and these can and do show up on tests.

At one point in the UK the government announced in one of the daily briefings last year that they believe they're only detecting about 5% of cases with testing so they pretty much worked on the assumption that the real unknown number of infected was 20 times higher than those detected.

I suspect a problem in Thailand is that they believe they're finding either all or nearly all of the cases.

This is a flaw in their thinking. No public health expert will think this and they will for sure know the situation.

This years version of the virus appears to spread slightly faster (less than double) when compared to last years version which seems to be faster than they can contain it - so there will inevitably be a large scale outbreak.

We haven't seen a large scale outbreak in Thailand yet, it's still getting started.

I somewhat disagree - they have yet to explain the 10,000 odd extra deaths in the last 4 months.

A post with unsourced and unsubstantiated information has been removed, along with a reply.

How many different targets have they announced in the last month? How about getting some actual doses of vaccine on the ground here and then into people's arms ASAP?

Oh! Is that's what is supposed to happen, here was I thinking it was just about wishful thinking....
