And yet the UK has its Royal Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals (founded 1824), but can only manage the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (founded 1884 - 60 years later).

Didn't realise that, so it looks like some people are barking up the wrong tree, or in this case a motorcycle perhaps ?

3  For the lady to be thrown backwards onto the car windscreen again appears to be a sudden impact rather than a shunt

Why would she be thrown backwards.... ?The vehicle likely ran into her, the speed of the vehicle windscreen relative to her is the cause.

Why was he "obviously speeding" ? Please provide facts or references  or else describe it as "in your opinion", although resulting in the damage to the bike  it did not look a high speed impact   I would add that based on experience ," in my opinion" she possibly had no rear light on her bike which may have been a contributory factor.  Other than that the other posters are correct regarding dogs being allowed to room freely and frankly I agree they should either be put down humanely or given to the Koreans living here to BBQ.

A newbie with no posts gave me a sad.  Maybe he can not write anything intelligible yet and has only mastered the "click on an emoji". Sad indeed as he must only be a recent troll.

No sure the relevance of the "Benz," are they saying it's better than being killed by a Toyota?

They're trying to show that she was killed by a hiso farang in his 500,000 baht C class lol.

Maybe prevention not protection ??

They used to send children up chimneys to clean them, perhaps they would have sent monkeys if they where available instead ?

doesn't matter what she was doing and where.   It's HIS responsibly to be driving at a REASONABLE speed for conditions......clearly reckless manslaughter.

it's her country.  she has friends, family, and dogs that will miss her.

if you know it's IMPOSSIBLE to drive at a safe speed, then you are guilty for driving at all.

it's 100 percent his fault.  100 percent. with that, and she's dead, there's life-changing consequences.   his problem.

From a compensation viewpoint yes, of course.

Braking...  I’m at a complete loss here... How you possibly know or assume that there wasn’t much braking?

Maybe he bothered to read the link.

The headline of the link says the Benz didn't brake in time and hit a girl who was trying to get a dog off the road.

The German ran up her behind and killed her. He is clearly at fault. That is the law.

I have a feeling if it was a Thai hiso Benz driver who hit a 21 year old female farango tourist from behind you wouldn't be apologizing for him.

RIP

These stories bring out the worst in some people and it seems they will ignore the obvious.

A post already provides an explanation of why it was not low speed impact. I will make it more clear.  Low speed impacts do not throw people up and over. Instead they push forward and down. In this case the woman's head went into the vehicle windshield. It was fast enough to leave motorbike upright,  sliced into vehicle.  Read up on vehicle impact and you will see that there is a science called physics which explains how objects will travel based upon speed of impact and angle.

You have no idea if woman had rear light working, so it is irrelevant. The area is obviously well lit and lines as per the photo. A defensive driver is aware of surroundings and road in front. No visible attempt to avoid motorbike either, otherwise  he would not have hit direct on. If an attempt to avoid had been made, the  motorbike would have been hit at an angle and thrown to the side or been under the vehicle not neatly inserted.

I’m curios how can you conclude:

- Obviously speeding

- Wasn’t much braking

How can you tell he was speeding ? - whats the speed limit on this road and what speed was the vehicle ‘obviously doing’ ??

Braking...  I’m at a complete loss here... How you possibly know or assume that there wasn’t much braking?

It has already been pointed out that the speed limit is 80kmh. This tragedy indicates speeding because of the force needed to insert the motorbike into the vehicle in such a clean way.

I guess you are not familiar with ABS.

It's obvious from the state of the motorcycle and the car that this was a relatively low speed collision - the ABS system would leave no skid marks.

And you are not familiar with Mercedes vehicle.  If you do not know, do not guess or assume others do not understand ABS.  Mercedes has ESP system. It can be turned off. Some drivers drivers drive without the system on because they want natural feel.  And you repeat myth of ABS brakes that there are no skid marks. I quote from  forensic expert engineer firm CED who make reconstruction of  vehicle  impacts like this; "” Vehicles equipped with ABS brakes will in fact leave faint tire marks on the roadway when the ABS system is activated. A trained accident reconstructionist/ investigator can actually visualize, measure and document ABS tire marks."  The marks are more visible in warm climates because of the the interaction between rubber and roadway. Less likely to see such tracks on wet roads or roads where it is cold. The road was dry and it was warm.

There does not appear to be braking because of the type of impact. The motorbike is implanted into front of vehicle.  If there had been braking, there would have been dissipation of energy and impact would not have been incision characteristic. To get such a clean insertion a lot of energy had to be used. This wasn't a slow impact.

It will be interesting to see who this 29 year old driver is with past history and whether or not police did sobriety test on him.

Wrong! Not Dog related, simply Benz Driver related!

The "basic speed law" as taught in proper driver training has been described in a previous post.

One must not drive faster than required to reasonably stop in case of a sudden obstacle on the road. Taking into account visibility , weather conditions, vehicle status,  and drivers ability. Only in perfect conditions then the posted speed limit. At least he did not do a runner hopefully dash cam or Benz data can prove he was not speeding and tested not impaired.

Parking on a high speed road due mechanical failure  or to pick up stray kittens is a very very hazardous maneuver and should only be undertaken with extreme caution after making every attempt to pull well clear of the roadway.

So because he drives a Benz he was "flashing his wealth"

Cheap charlies really have no shame....

In another media it is stated that he was driving a Toyota Sedan

i am not a specialist in Mercedes Benz like you but looking at the photo

it seems to be a Sedan, maybe you could confirm or not ?

Concerning your post how many people penniless do you know

actually driving a Sedan or a Mercedes Benz in Thailand ?

Whether dog, disabled car or cycle or a big plastic bag hazard, the driver was driving too fast as he was unable to avoid hitting a road  hazard...

don't spin the narrative into a Fox News propaganda story to blame the dog b/c you don’t like dogs

Out of interest, what is a "Soi Nor Jap Tao rank"?

Could the tail light of the bike have been broken in a dark spot on the road (and there are plenty of those)?

I take it as a most unfortunate accident - how sad!

And to finish this rant, the ESP System in Mercedes-Benz cars,

This Extras Sensory Perception system seems to work, everyone here knows what the driver was doing at the time!

We know what he wasn't doing at the time, he wasn't looking ahead very carefully.
