Dear @oc_ccsa

, your #COVID19 vaccination numbers don’t add up anymore since yesterday, May 13. Example: Total 1st dose on May 12: 1,372,013 + 22,753 new 1st doses = 1,394,766 1st doses as of May 13 But you graphic says “1,395,130”. Where does the difference come from?

Quite. These days if I want to have a chat with friends we meet up at a coffee shop instead of my house.

stellar thinking by the authorities.

if the issue of meeting a few people is so important, then you have to stop it completely and close anywhere that people might meet in groups. If it’s not so important, then why not be able to meet at home?

I don’t care either way, but currently it’s farcical

I think its a money thing and the government is being pressured by the big restaurant chains. But I welcome that its going to open but they then at the same time should allow people to meet up at home.

Only four provinces reported 100 or more new COVID cases on Friday:

Bangkok --  1,087

Pathum Thani -- 157

Nonthaburi -- 131

Samut Prakan -- 121

Bangkok and its five adjoining provinces accounted for nearly 70 percent (1,563 of 2,256) of the new cases reported Friday. The other 71 provinces combined totaled only 505 cases.

Chiang Mai had only 16 new cases reported, while Chonburi had 64.

Sixteen provinces reported no new cases, while 41 provinces reported 10 or fewer cases.

The government's prisons are now being treated as a separate area for case reporting, with the 2,835 in Bangkok reported Thursday and another 183 today making a cumulative total of 3,018 prison cases in the past two days.

Attention everyone. We are in the company of a genius. Seems like >2000 a day or around 60,000+ a month is fine so now is not the time to be concerned.

Congratulations you are passed for math.......But it is very curious that there is always around 2000 cases a day. exception  for 4835 yesterday..... In Bangkok 600  chonburi, Chiang Mai Samut Prakan have a lot more so there would be only a few in every province each day.... If you believe that.. In my province yesterday 2 today 8 to days ago 4.. never the same amount..

#UPDATE:

@thaimoph

is mulling - IT’S STILL A DRAFT - to allow in-dining again: In “dark red” zones (incl BK), eateries would open with 25% capacity but only until 9pm and still no alcohol (take-away until 11pm). In “red zones”, it’ll be until 11pm. No decision *when* yet!

This is the draft MoPH proposal (in Thai, no English version I've seen as yet) that includes the notion (third activity column in) of allowing restricted dark red zone restaurants to resume sit-down dining with 25 percent occupancy.

It looks like the dark red maximum controls level would be applied to provinces that have 100 new cases in one day in a week, or are averaging more than 50 daily cases per week.

The Ministry of Public Health released a report on its COVID outreach testing in the Bangkok area as of May 12, showing an overall 4.95 percent rate of positive tests, 359 positive results out of 7,247 tests.

Overall obviously still a lot of the virus around then. Needs to get well below this number before relaxing any measures in those areas or it'll carry on growing.

The only positive is that we don't have to listen to Anutin sprouting his predictions that this would all be normalized within 2 to 3 weeks as he did 3 weeks ago.

He needs a new crystal ball to polish me thinks and learn to listen to his own experts who predicted this sorry state of affairs through science but were totally ignored. Now we have this sad and tragic state of affairs. There's still time to put in measures to combat this but we've been harping that same tune for weeks.

Life is just a tad boring while Anutin has to sit with his Thumb up his A@@@.

Cant wait for his return, as I need a good Laugh, and he seems to provide that on an almost Daily basis.

Let's open up schools again also so we can really light a fire on this Covid thing.

I was hoping for some opening up for schools (maybe with limited class sizes) from 18 May, but it doesn't look likely.  I guess it won't be before 1 June now.  Very disappointing.

Here's a first for Thailand, Buriram to make covid vaccinations compulsory for high risk groups.

"Buriram ordered people in high-risk groups to take coronavirus vaccine or face fine and jail time, the province announced this week. A violator who refuses to be vaccinated could face a fine of no more than 40,000 baht or jail for no more than two years."

Isn't that against the international treaty rules?I expect a flip flop pretty soon.

Thailand gets a step closer to being able to offer the highly regarded Moderna COVID vaccine through at least some of the country's private hospitals.

But that close is still very far away.

Moderna is expected to arrive in October, the Private Hospital Association said on Friday. #โควิด #โควิด19 #โควิดวันนี้ #โควิด19วันนี้ #วัคซีนโควิด #วัคซีนโควิด19 #WhatsHappeninglnThailand

That would be great if true. It just got approved yesterday, but not ordered yet. Don't see how it gets here by OCT 2021. Maybe they meant 2022

Congestion, poor ventilation among causes of COVID-19 transmission in factories

Congestion, poor ventilation and sharing of the same drinking vessels have been blamed as the main causes of the spread of COVID-19 in five factories, with more than 500 workers each, in Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Pathum Thani and Nonthaburi provinces, said Department of Health Director-General Dr. Suwanchai Wattanayingcharoenchai today (Friday).

He disclosed that about 250 infections have, so far, been found in the factories, which were also found to have poor air circulation and were overcrowded, with more than one person per 4 square metres.

The workers were not properly screened for COVID-19 infection before entering the workplace, and prefer to eat together, socialise and share the same glasses for drinking water, said Dr. Suwanchai said.

Singapore had 24 locally transmitted cases today and will be going into a new lockdown with everyone required to work from home...Thailand had 2,000 cases and is thinking about easing restrictions!

How can anyone in their right mind believe Thailand has or ever had any control over this?

I have always judged Singapore to be a place of paranoids. One should never take that society as an example.

Why? A quick lockdown to stop a major outbreak. Get it contained within 2 - 4 weeks rather then letting it grow for months.

Are you suggesting Thailand should be held as an example over Singapore? That life is better for the average Thai than for the average Singaporean? That the average Thai has more opportunity than the average Singaporean?

Are you referring to the country that has had only 38 deaths from Covid-19?

I guess you are right, no one should ever follow the example of the country that leads the world in containing the virus.
