webfact Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 Picture: Daily News The ex US marines and two Thais including a police Lt-Col made their first appearance at South Bangkok court yesterday. All four suspects denied charges of conspiracy to abduct and extort a Taiwanese businessman. Prosecutors asked that they be held for 12 days until May 28th as this was a serious case and they represented a flight risk. This was agreed but relatives and lawyers of the four made a successful application for bail in the sum of 300,000 baht each. The suspects must also wear EM electronic monitoring bracelets and report regularly to police. They are forbidden from leaving Thailand. They are Louis W.S., 51, Jeremy H.M., 40, Ekbadin P. 28, and Pol Lt-Col Krissanaporn T. aged 59. Daily News called their alleged activities "brazen". They had had a disagreement over the purchase of surgical gloves from a Taiwanese businessman called Wern Yu Chun who worked for a company. An initial batch of the gloves was turned down and the boss refused initially to provide replacements. The defendants in the case allegedly went into a restaurant in Sukhumvit Road Soi 36 in broad daylight and grabbed the victim and put in him handcuffs before taking him away to a nearby property. He managed to negotiate his release saying that he would try to get the money - $3 million - from his mother's company. He said that he couldn't do it himself and needed to be let go to get the money. Earlier reports said that the Americans are ex marines. One is also alleged to have been mixed up in an ecstasy importation case in California, notes Thaivisa. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-05-18 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

Popular Post khunPer Posted May 18, 2021 Popular Post Posted May 18, 2021 I've never understood bail for serious crimes – yes, there are much I don't understand – however 300k baht seems cheap for a ticket out, taking the circumstances into consideration...???? 3
ALLSEEINGEYE Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 too many people higher up that need to remain anonymous and cannot be implicated, so this case will never see a court room. This guy will be out of country or disappeared by the end of the week. 2
pokerface1 Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 Well now we know the price 300,000 to stop the cell gate from closing behind you. It's a fine plus a memento that they can simply cut off with a pair of snips. Bye bye Thailand
