Good news for foreigners without pink ID?

Featured Replies

I stress this is not official.

My Thai GF went to the Phoo Yai of our village, I have met him a couple of times.

She asked him if I could be registered for vaccination in the village. He said no problem, just need a copy of the passport ID.

Would be nice if there is some official confirmation of this. Apparently I will get priority along with elderly Thais in the village.

In Chiang Mai we've been allowed to register without a pink ID card or a yellow book for about a week now. The story however is that people who do so will not be vaccinated until at least August. This was confirmed to me yesterday by my GP and previously, via the CityLife covid helpline and also the cmcovid  helpline which actually registered my details.

This has been the case is some locations since day one. Soem TV members did nti even have to ask, village health workers cane round and signed them up.

It is still not the case in some other places.

Every locality has its own understanding of what the policy is. Some have taken the  initiative to define it themselves, others are hesitant and waiting for a clear signal from central level (good luck with that).

For those living in places where the local hospital still won't register foreigners, the foreigner-specific phone app when released may help (provided it works and you can get onto it. The Thai version was overloaded within hours of launch)

@Lacessit

I think most people are confused between registering and getting an appointment.

Those with pink ID can get an early appointment date on the day that they register, while those who don't have pink ID will have to wait until who knows when to get an appointment date.
