PHUKET: More than two weeks after the Thai Ministry fo Foreign Affairs announced to the world in English that foreigners, and specifically expats and retirees staying the country, will from today (June 7) be able to register to receive a state-provided COVID-19 vaccination, Phuket officials have remained silent on whether or not expats living on the island may in fact register from today.

Natapanu Nopakun, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Information and Deputy Spokesman of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, on May 21 announced, “Thailand attaches importance to the vaccination of everyone in Thailand according to the level of risk, regardless of nationality.

“We practice what we preach. No one is safe in Thailand until everyone is safe, everyone is vaccinated,” he said.

Thailand tells the world we are taking care of every foreigner in the kingdom, but in practice something else happens.

Embassies start doing something for us... put pressure back on the government.

Well, guess what.

The Swiss ambassador, very attentive to self-profiling her do-gooder activities with live facebook shows etc.,  gave Anutin a cash cheque of CHF 200'000 (somewhere around 6.5 million Thai Baht). Anutin himself declared a net worth of 4.2 billion (that reads 4'200 million Thai Baht).

Swiss citizen though are as "underprivileged" as the rest of the dirty farang crowd and remain as alien as the rest of the flock.

Pathetic, the whole exercise - too many clowns and not enough circuses

Fully agree, looks like we are not the only ones who noticed her activisms. See comment to that of some Amadeus:

The USA just donated $37m of tax payers money to Thailand, I'd be rightly very angry if Thailand doesn't up its game for expat vaccination efforts especially if I was a US Citizen, other western countries like the UK will also be donating vaccine to Thailand

And if, they willl spend it on Chinese products instead of buying US or EU vaccines. Would be disgusting.

This is almost as if the rich Western Countries are rewarding Thailand for their gross incompetence over the procurement of Vaccines.

Thailand is ranked as 21 st richest Nation on the Planet. Why are they being helped like this  ?

There are many much poorer Nations that need some assistance from the likes of the G7, and would be more grateful than Thailand for that help in these dire times for them.

or, is this a political play against China, to sucker up, and maybe prevent Thailand going all out full pelt running into the arms of the CCP.

Well, some of them are a total waste of taxpayers money - in this particular case though there is plenty of money in the honey pot, so why worry? It just shows how "public affairs" are being dealt and treated with - most of those players are incompetent and utterly useless in the private industry and hence end up in such places!
