Thailand’s Private Hospital Association (PHA) is seeking to purchase up to 10 million doses of the US made Moderna vaccine, through the country’s Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO), with deliveries expected by October.

PHA President Paiboon Eksaengsri said yesterday (Sunday) that the association has discussed the purchase with Zuellig Pharma, a firm importing the Moderna vaccine, and progress is being made.

One dose of Moderna vaccine is expected to cost the hospitals 1,200 Baht, Mr. Paiboon said. When taking into account service and insurance fees, the overall price to the patientshould not be more than 4,000 Baht, he added.

Interesting.

Previously volumes mentioned were "5 - 6 MM" doses.

Now 10 MM.

Suspect the interest in this vaccine was much greater than previously expected.

Same here... though queue number is nearly 900k so I wonder if it gets called up in 2021...

Arrive in October and my bet because of some red tape of missing a document or lack of agents, it will clear customs in February 2022 while accruing penalties and fees for storage. But unfortunately after awhile the refer storage has a problem with a temp reading so all is rejected and disposed and then haggled out to be covered by insurance which is disputed. Not holding me and my family's breath, but this is the one we will first agree to take. Psfizer is also on that list.

I'm having to be very relaxed about all this now.  I predict (on no evidence whatsoever) that farang expats will get vaccinated sometime in January next year, bar those that have managed to wriggle through this chaotic system in place right now and have managed to fill themselves full of the Chinese stuff.  I also further predict that we will be paying upwards of 3,000 Baht if we want a choice of vaccine.  So, I will keep clear of crowds, markets, bars and most in door restaurants (unless few people around, only outside tables and in a cool breeze) , and incidentally Bangkok/Chang Mai/Udon, etc, until I do get vaccinated. It's risk mitigation time for the next 6 to 9 months

Just had my haircut and my barber says she has registered for this. Queue number is approx 1,085,000. Claims vaccination date is august?

the date seems unlikely but she showed me the confirmation on her phone.

I registered early and got queue number at 430,214 and hospital only gave probable October vaccination date. I will be notify when they have the vaccine. Doubt you got the right information.

yes indeed, not much change.  I am not  a bar/eating out person, so I haven't seen much change in my lifestyle this last 18 months.

That date is most probably quite meaningless in the present climate of chaotic inefficacy, but good luck to her, I hope its true

So you came all the way to Thailand to sit in a house, or are you a hiker ????

From Moderna company website.  As of Feb 2021 here are the outstanding orders:

Moderna has confirmed the following supply agreements of committed orders totaling more than 641.5 million doses:

So Thailand places a 10 million dose order and Moderna delivers all 10 Million doses by October?  I could not find information as what percentage of these orders which had been placed before February 2021 had been been fulfilled.  Taiwan is on the list and they just welcomed vaccine donation from the US.

One more thing, I registered in multiple places and so far got absolutely nothing.  .

Ha added through gritted teeth trying desperately not to smirk ..

That should dispel any doubts that some with the zero ethics see this as another way of padding out their accounts ..

Did you register for the time-machine as well?

Vimut Hospital spokesman, on Khaosod English live stream talking about Moderna.

Odds of meeting October deadline, "not less than 80%".

Hardly, I am into  travelling, flying, fishing, sailing and other pursuits . I came here for more than bars and restaurants.  I can get those at home in UK and its rather sad if that is what ethers come here for.

Of course you are,  I believe you ????

So a best case scenario is October to start... even on this highly optimistic month, most people wont receive their first shot until September.  Then there will be limited supplies so about 4 months until the second shot.  Yes some time around Jan/Feb 2022.  Disgraceful.  Just let the embassies take care of us for gods sake!.

"The vaccine will come in three lots –  4 million doses in October, 1 million early next year and 5 million more later."

"The Devil is in the Details", from the Devil him or herself

Best case scenario is approximately 2 million can get vaccinated with Moderna in 2021.  This is contingent upon Moderna meeting the backlog in it's orders(many other countries are in front of the line).  Taiwan placed it's order many months ago and still waiting for the bulk of it's order.

October is a long ways off.  If Thailand manages to make a deal with Pfizer they will definitely be able to get those sooner than that. The Philippines is getting 2.3 million Pfizer shots this week.

These news reports get old.  Again, no order placed.  And Moderna has already indicated deliveries to several countries, including Australia and Canada, who've already paid up, are being delayed.  Next year is my guess for delivery here.
