Thai hospitals instructed not to postpone vaccination appointments – DPHM

Hospitals in Thailand have been instructed to keep vaccination appointments, even though they may have received fewer doses of vaccine than expected, especially for people over 60 and those suffering from any of seven non-communicable underlying diseases, Deputy Public Health Minister Satit Pitutacha told Thai PBS during the “Tob Jot” TV programme on Monday night.

He said that, while most hospitals have received sufficient doses for the launch of mass inoculations on Monday, about 20% received fewer doses than the demand since Monday.

He made clear that it was not a mistake by some hospitals, saying that the Public Health Ministry does not want appointments to be postponed, especially for the two groups at high risk, because some of them live far from the hospitals.

So there is a concern that some areas and hospitals received far less as critics say it is politically motivated. That would not surprise me one bit .

Not that I've heard. You started that rumor

With that kind of babbling you should not receive a topic in TV

Thai logic often confounds me.

This is one of those times.

I did also hear a similar rumour... Or rather my Wife, who is quite politically astute, informed me that the governors of some provinces have greater political influence it has been reported in the Thai news that some of the more powerful governors have been ‘meddling’ with the distribution of the vaccines to their benefit.

I've heard the same. The most Northern Provinces, not shall we say the most well disposed to the government, feel that they have received less than their fair share. True or not, the rumour is making the rounds up here.

how much are the hospitals charging for the real vaccine this week ?

Pretty sure many won't feel disposed to return.  Apart from the annoyance of a wasted journey,  people are struggling financially and won't want to waste time and money.

There’s no point commenting on what this guy has said. He’s just spouting any old lie to cover up some harsh realities that he isn’t prepared to face.

it’s just total hogwash with no factual or helpful content.

They will inject you with the hot air coming from the Covid Czar, there is no shortage of that and all known viruses will flee on contact. Warning: side effects assured

Always have done. Not difficult to find out who influences who and why with a bit of digging. Nothing unusual about that, just normal Thai corrupt administrative practice

Simple, person turns up as per appointment, waits until serum is received, never mind when.

The objective is to ensure person turns up/keeps their appointment, whether they get a Covid 19 vaccine jab is not relevant to this discussion, and informing the person 'don't come, no serum' is not allowed.

See, not difficult to understand, all totally clear and logical.

I understand Thailand stands at 79 in the world social progress list . The way Thailand has handled the vaccination program is but a shame that should bring the position to the bottom when you consider the wealth Thailand has compared to many countries that have less wealth and vaccinated far more of there population .

Large part of the problem with the vaccination program has been the company involved with making Astra Zeneca vaccines under license in Thailand . Ex future forward party leader complained about the contract but was threatened with criminal action .

He didn't say you would GET the vaccination, just that the appointment would not be postponed. Have a seat and read a magazine from 1993.
