Thailand must speed up the vaccination process to 70 percent of the population before the new variants of Covid-19 Coronavirus will become the new outbreak in the country, Thai neurologist Thiravat Hemachudha suggested.

Dr. Thiravat, head of the Center for Emerging Disease Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, stated online today, June 7th, that the first minute a new variant was found in the community, not in state quarantine, are always “untraceable” and “uncontrollable” as it was spreading faster than original variants, such as the first detection in Lak Si cluster.

His statement read: “B.1.351 strain of Covid-19 found in the southern provinces was also the same, showing that the strain must have been quickly spread in that area. Therefore, the Thai government needs to speed up the inoculation as soon as possible and cover the injection to as many people as possible.

I think it will just fade away (the vaccination programme not the virus!) If you are the "right sort of chap", or live or work in an area where the "clan leaders" have the political or financial clout

Really?  Have you told the big boys Dr. Thirivat? Do you think they are going to listen?

Wow, it appears everyone wants a little fame, even a Neurologist working in the field of emerging disease health science with some nice shades.

Did he just work this out, I mean I'm not qualified in any medical way and know that, gee I must be smart.

Relax, it's completely under control...

I think it will just fade away (the vaccination programme not the virus!) If you are the "right sort of chap", or live or work in an area where the "clan leaders" have the political or financial clout to make it happen, then you will be vaccinated. For the rest of the population, and certainly the expats, you will end up paying when and if the private hospitals can supply it, or simply going unvaccinated.

They have created a complete mess, and as soon as they can they will walk away from it.

Am I missing something here? A neurologist is head of the Centre for Emerging Diseases?

is he the Thai equivalent of Dr Scott Atlas?

to be fair, I have no quarrel with what he was saying, although in the words of John Cleese (I think), he does seem to be stating the bleedin obvious.

Well at least he does seem to have some sort of medical qualification, which is more than you can say for most of the people who seem to be making the decisions in and around the mass vaccination programme - after all, there have been several reports of town hall officials making decisions as to who should be vaccinated!

Cannot, no have, sold to Malaysia and PI but do have 150 million does on 'order'

The UK has a similar sized population to Thailand. The UK gave the first vaccine on 8 December 2020, almost exactly 6 months ago.

As of today, the UK has vaccinated 77% of over 18s with their first dose and 53.6% of over 18s with their second dose.

The UK is administering roughly 500,000 vaccinations per day.

The point being, if Thailand were to follow in the UK's footsteps, it would still be 6 months before they got anywhere near their goal.

Who is this imposter ? Bring back the silver fox !

Private hospitals will charge 3800 baht for the jab

Dear Doctor, you are waisting your breath... Many many people have been telling the PM for over a year now.... But he isn't listening....

He looks like Thailand's answer to Herbert West to me !

I agree with Dr. Obvious......Thailand must speed up the vaccination process

Facts:

The government didn't get into the approval and ordering stage soon enough, for whatever reasons. The current situation was predictable several months ago.

Clinics cannot give vaccines they don't have.

Little will change until vaccines are available in sufficient quantities to have any impact.

Until that time comes there is nothing to see here. Move along.

Yeah well it seems the PM has different plans in mind.

The big boys already have their vaccinations. Anybody else who haven't is just collateral damage

He is looking at the situation with rose-tinted glasses on.

Literally.

But perhaps the UK wanted all of the population to be protected.

Looks a bit like a Thai Elton John

I would not argue with a Neurologist who looks like a mafia hit man!

2.5 % to 70% is a long ways to go...

Will they take days off and holidays in their quest?

drop the quarantine...

Dr. Thiravat needs to get a whip out and start beating government officials.  Which is about a fruitful as beating a dead mule.

Sad that these highly qualified and renowned medical professionals seemed to have all forgotten their basic grade school maths.
