Bangkok: School to start next week - but it's ALL online

Bangkok Metropolitan Authority education official Kriangkrai Jangcharoen announced that the new school term will start next Monday.

But it will all be online.

None of the 437 schools under the BMA jurisdiction will be opening for face to face learning.

Meanwhile Naew Na reported that around 13-14,000 of 17,684 teachers and adminsitrative staff have now been vaccinated in the Thai capital.

Measures such as cleaning, how things like meals will be paid for and how milk will be distributed are still being discussed in teleconferences among administrators.

What hasn't been announced is what every student and every parent wants to know.

A definitive date when they can get back to some sort of normal actually IN a school.

And for those families who do not have, and cannot afford,  internet or compatible computers??

Not too many people without a computer in the house these days but if there is no computer available, they can use their phone or maybe even their tv for learning.

how about using the actual classrooms and have the teachers teach?  It’s not about child safety. Children have twice the risk of dying climbing the stairs over this virus.

You're right. It's much less about the child's safety and more about the vulnerable family members at home who the students could be infecting. It doesn't take much to think a bit beyond your personal agenda. Although judging by your post, even typing your thoughts may be a challenge for you.

Oh my goodness, what parallel universe are you living in ? Clearly you have zero understanding of the hardships and poverty levels of the poor in Thailand. And yes they have children too.

Sad, but not unexpected, to see so little consideration given to poor families and those with working parents. Far more important to keep shopping malls open.
