Legal import of a 3d-printer and 3d-printer parts?

As long as you can get it in a suit case, I would not worry about getting it in. The Ender kit would likely fit in a big suitcase, but you wouldn't get much more in.

Or you could bit the bullet and buy the kit local, get it going, and then bring back all the extra stuff you will want/need when you travel...

I don't want to spend 650 EUR only to find out I have bad luck and customs confiscates that thing. Therefore I will buy it local if not anybody has some detailed info about which parts of the printer can be imported legally - if any at all.

When you say legally, you mean without a license, yes?

To import it legally, you would still have to declare it and pay duty & VAT. If you don't declare it, if they catch you, even if a license is not required, you will still be fined and have to pay duty and VAT.

Get your girlfriend to call customs AND DHL and see what they say...

I think it a good bet if you order it from the Amazon US site you will get it.

What is your rationale for that?   He, as an importer buying an item that is subject to import restrictions, does not have to abide by those import regulations just because he'd be buying from Amazon?  How does that work?

To repeat from above: The printers are not banned in Thailand!

People without import license are not allowed to import them.

As far as I know it is possible to apply to get such a license, but obviously that requires work and time.

I bought an original Prusa 3D printer from the Thai supplier. Problem solved.

I imported 5 Creality K1 MAX printers last month to add to my print farm.

No import licence was asked for.
