Bangkok, 25 June, 2021 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is pleased to report the success of the “Keep giving because something never stops” blood donation activity that was held from 21-24 June, 2021, at the National Blood Centre in Bangkok.

The four-day activity was jointly organised by TAT and the National Blood Centre under the Thai Red Cross Society, in response to a blood shortage due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation resulting from increased infections during the 3rd wave of local transmission (April-May, 2021).

This shortage in blood, as well as an increased need for medical equipment to handle the higher number of patients and longer hours being worked by medical professionals, has been seen at hospitals around the country.

TAT Governor Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn said, “We are very pleased to announce that the target set for the “Keep giving because something never stops” event of having 2,000 people donate blood was achieved. It has proved yet another wonderful example of how Thais are coming together to help each other in this difficult time, and we wholeheartedly thank all those who donated.”

In line with COVID-19 social distancing measures, the number of people donating blood during the “Keep giving because something never stops” activity at the National Blood Centre on Henry Dunant Road was set at a maximum of 500 per day. This was arranged into 250 people in the morning from 07.30-11.00 Hrs. and 250 people in the afternoon from 13.00-16.00 Hrs.

Before the event, people interested to donate blood were invited to pre-register online at the Amazing Thailand Facebook page. The good response to this pre-registration and the volume of blood donations given over the four days have given TAT further confidence to arrange similar activities in the future to provide help in society in various areas that may be needed.

As a sign of its gratitude to those who donated blood during the “Keep giving because something never stops” activity, TAT will have 2,000 premium grade fabric T-shirts with a street-look style by well-known graffiti artist “BigDel” produced, one for each of the 2,000 donors.

W"hile the Blood donation continues to be run with outdated and idiotic rules then often much needed blood can never be collected. My mother in the Uk gave blood well into her eighties, I wish to do the same being O Neg, but stupid Thai rules do not allow me to. Just HOW STUPID is Thailand, it needs the blood but will not allow collection . Crazy, I have told my lawyers if I die because there was NO blood available, then to sue the Thai Blood collection service .

Then they might need their own lawyers for fee collection service after you're gone.
