Unidentified foreigner arrested for allegedly stealing two bottles of liquor in Pattaya and attempting to flee across nearby rooftops, claims he is homesick and wants to be sent back to his country

Pattaya, Thailand-An unidentified foreign man was arrested yesterday, June 28th, 2021, in Pattaya after allegedly stealing two bottles of liquor from a local store and fleeing which led to a pursuit between the shop clerk, local villagers, and the foreigner and ultimately led to the arrest of the foreign national.

 

The incident took place around 5:00 P.M. near Soi 6/1 Moo 10 in the Nong Prue Subdistrict. Police Lieutenant Pisit Sincharoonsak, a deputy inspector from the Nong Prue Police Station was the first to the scene along with The Pattaya News reporters.

 

A foreign man with a backpack who refused to give his name, nationality, or provide identification was found sitting on the ground in a residential neighborhood with several residents and a shop clerk who had helped to detain the man. The man had several bruises on one of his legs, reportedly caused by falling through a residential rooftop while attempting to flee from local villagers and the shop clerk.

I would never do that.  Of course I'm too old at 67 to scale rooftops carrying 2 cases of beer, even cans. 

 

Thailand needs to come up with a TV show like "You wouldn't believe it" that features these people.

Probably why he stole tried to steal 2 bottles of liquor, 2 cases of beer and an attempted rooftop getaway isn't even a game for the young 'uns.

The foreign man told police at the scene, according to Police Lieutenant Pisit Sincharoonsak, that he was homesick and wanted to be sent back to his own country and wanted to be caught.

 

Interpretation -

 

I have maxed out my credit cards after you let me stay here for months on extensions and now I have no money to pay for anything including a flight home and my youtube channel is a failure, can you put me on a flight for free to my home country before Thailand gets graded as covid red and I have to pay for hotel quarantine

Think he should have researched Immigration Detention, and how deportation takes place from Thailand place. Perhaps securing a loan from friends or family may have been less traumatic for him.

Nothing is free, he will have to pay back the flight when he gets home. But he might get a good free vaccine when he gets home. As most of the vaccines here will get you 14 days in a nice hotel that cost a arm and a leg.

Maybe his mama will turn up to the police station with him for the wai'ing ceremony as is tradition in the land of no responsibility.. This is only news because he's foreign, this type of nonsense happens in thousands of local villages across the country every night - for house thrashing, to gambling gone wrong, to the crazy drunk

I think jail would be enough to regret it, although i'd hope he receives same wai+5000baht treatment afforded to locals when they do drunk acts often much much more severe. Young, non-fat and probably a working immune system - i doubt COVID is a worry.
