Pfizer, BioNTech deny talks with Thai Thonburi Healthcare on vaccines

Somebody at Thonburi Healthcare Group will be shouting down a phone " Sell sell sell .....it worked !!! "

So very true, rumour makes traders billions every day. Look at the crypto currency scam, it's up and down depending on what someone like Musk says. He must be laughing while he counts the money.

Lol..it looks like they withdrew the free vaxxing for tourists 2 days after the widely published announcement:

Looks like so far the US is the safest bet if one can endure the flights to there,  and has enough funds to stay during the vaccination and the CoE issuance.

????

In the UAE there may well still be the remote working visa,

If so, from what I saw the conditions are not too bad except that you have to show that you are earning enough money to qualify.

The state drugmaker, the Government Pharmaceutical Organization, said on Wednesday it had filed a defamation suit against Boon over his criticism of its role in the procurement of Moderna vaccines.

So everyone should just wait for the "state drugmaker" to decide when we will receive vaccinations and at what price! I guess 2023 will be good enough!

No quarantine, You can fly into PDX (Portland) and be vaccinated at the Airport. It is the hoops jumping to return here that will be a pain unfortunately.

As if the danger comes from outside the country ...

This is the kind of stuff that makes Thailand look so incompetent during this Pandemic. They would be better off having one Liar talk instead of 20 liars. Everyday its a different story

No this is just plain stupid.  Reportedly the Thonburi group has a market cap of approximately 25 billion baht.  That would mean its value would have gone up, by 366 million baht.   I realize that they will be making some money from the sale of the vaccine but how many injections would you have to give in order to justify that increase in value.  This is particularly true since unlike ongoing operations, the vaccines if effective are not something that would generate the same level of injections each and every year.

THG share price up another 2.4%.  So the punters obviously believe there is something to the story.  If true, it could make a fair bit of difference.  Say only B100 gross profit per shot would inrease gross profit by B2bn vs 2020 net profit of 62m  and 462m in 2019.  I don't believe it will really happen as claimed by Dr Boon.  His reputation is business over the past few decades is not exactly gleaming.

This is BAD:

The AZ option explains why Thailand was the only country which refused to join the World Health Organization’s COVAX scheme, and also why Prayuth and his government passed up options in 2020 to buy mRNA vaccines like Pfizer and Moderna that Thais are now clamoring for. In addition, US pharmaceutical companies are said to have walked away from Thailand rather than contravene the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. This has led to a massive shortfall in acquiring enough vaccines to inoculate the nation. Now the government is attempting to mix the Sinovac and AZ vaccines to improve efficacy, contrary to WHO advice.

no need read all the blah blah... we alll know the answer.......   they want to make cash on it one way or another....   nothing changed,,   always the same...   ask any thai ... they all know it......   its shamefull and distgusting....

This is new, a committee to think about planning. Think about burning all the dead bodies later.

I can see how "if" the Thonburi group gets Moderna and is able to sell it, that they will accrue a one time increase in revenue and profits.  However, unless the investors believe that this will be an ongoing source of future revenue the increase in share price is just emotional and not based on a multiple of future earnings.  If the Moderna is only a one time event, following the vaccinations the revenue and profitability of the group would go back to what it was without the Moderna.

An Elon Musk moment?

We are in discussions with them, but not directly. Probably means the government will be in discussions with them sooner or later and when they are, we will be ready to discuss with the government for 20 million of the vaccines they procured.

just something to boost the market value of the hospital group. A job for the Thai version of the SEC to deal with? Perhaps fake news, so something the digital police to deal with? Defamation?

Perhaps the shareholders could review his tenure as a purveyor of untruths.

Whatever issues are going on it seems to be a vaccine roll out and supply scramble gone viral.

Money now looks to be the most important factor in vaccinating humans in Thailand. Sad.

Then if construction workers stay locked in they will get 50 % of their wages, you would think that these sites and other infected factories would be closed and the people tested and quarantined.

That newspaper said today that people are dyeing at home and the government doesn't have enough test supplies to test people.

This would indicate that daily reported numbers are low and the death number could be much higher, an Indian situation developing rapidly as the money boys fight to get a slice of the vaccine money pie. Disgusting.

Source that Thailand newspaper that is in English.

PS. If workers leave the construction camps they get nothing, so this will give them incentive to stay.

If they leave or flee, then they are free to spread corona wherever they may run to. The sites are under military police guard so if you don't want to accept the free food and 50% payment then you can stay for free without food, or run and spread
