Here's his excuse 5 months ago for not joining it before:

BANGKOK (Reuters) - The Thai government on Sunday defended its decision not to join the WHO-sponsored coronavirus vaccine programme, saying that to do so would risk the country paying more for the shots and facing uncertainty about delivery times.

This is a complete farce and at least start showing some balls, admit your costly errors and apologize to the Thai people who you as Health Minister have a duty to care for.

The news comes as Thailand’s purchase contract for 20 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has been signed, with delivery expected in the fourth quarter of this year, according to Pfizer and BioNTech.

AstraZeneca will only be able to deliver 5-6 million doses per month but the plan to inoculate at least 10 million people per month will continue with the help of other vaccines, the government said on Tuesday.

Just fire-fighting the outbreak.

Pfizer not due to arrive until the last quarter, even then that's only 10M people, AZ being used up to re-inoculate medical staff who need the extra protection that Sinovac does not provide.

Can't see the majority of the population being vaccinated by the end of this year.

Yes and that comes when we’re are at probably 30,000 cases (probably higher). Confirms my point that they could of easily got away with hiding 2,000 to 3,000 cases per day last year. Or not even hiding them just not bothering to find them in the first place.

Marvin I take it that you are not a fan of history.

This was predicted when covid first came out.

It was also predicted what would happen from the time it came out until now.

THIS H1Nvirus is following the same game as the Spanish flu did from Feb. 1918 until April 1920.  It is thought also to have started in China then mutated in the Boston area.

The first wave was bad but not that bad people were able to survive and it seemed to be effectively managed with vaccines until the virus mutated.

Unfortunately people became complacent and did not realizes that it was still a threat and let their guards down.

The the second third and fourth wave hits with a different mutation that the original treatment could not prevent or cure.

17 - 100 million people died and remember back then the only international transit was steam ship so the world was not as close as it is today

This is not gong to be a short term or easy solution where we can blame others.

Vaccination is going to be important but expect to get 4-5 jabs until this thing dies.

It devastated countries then and covid is going to do the same now.

It would be more informative if there was a chart showing the covid stats of all provinces throughout Thailand but there again I suppose there is no point if we cannot rely on the testing reports .

No need to wonder why people are dying at home in increasing numbers. This is not a circus its a macabre disaster unfolding in front of our eyes:

2,700 COVID-19 patients wait for pre-admission in Bangkok – Erawan Centre

Bangkok is currently seeing a backlog of about 2,700 people infected with COVID-19 who are waiting at home to be sent to pre-admission centres, according to Director of Bangkok Emergency Medical Services Center (Erawan Center) Dr. Pornthep Saeheng.

I think we might just have a different definition of what constitutes a lockdown. I need to operate with freedom, and anything that constrains that irritates the hell out of me. You tend to stan support Singapore quite a lot. And so do I. But I generally hesitate to say with certainty that what worked there will necessarily work in other cities/countries. The Singapore situation is too unique.

Yeah, I guess the place suits me. I like things that are rational. Except, what on earth is rational about me being in Thailand 5555

So when push comes to shove Thailand can climb down and lose face. This could be a game changer for 6-12 months time  if covax comes up trumps.

Another step down on the vaccination numbers unfortunately. And I haven’t seen anything from MOPH to say where the problem is. The assumption is not enough vaccine, but it would be nice to see some kind of projection for vaccinations based on known vaccine delivery schedules. Rather than just watching it slowly step down week by week.

this action here is meant to be the savior of the nation and it’s slowly fizzling out.

BANGKOK — The head of a COVID-19 volunteer aid group said Wednesday that the government should quickly provide more beds, or risk seeing even more people dying at home or on the streets.

Or prison camps

I read somewhere that they are thinking of locking the country down in two months time, if things get worse. Surely now is the time to do it, or am I missing something?

The Department of Corrections are reporting 1,049 new infections among the inmates bringing the total to 40,821. 47 have died since 1st April. At the moment, 3,824 are in care. So far, 53,544 inmates have received the first shot of the vaccine and 51,581 both jabs #Thailand

38% died in less than 6 days of diagnosis

30 were infected by family members

By my count, looks like new COVID deaths today in 25 different provinces.

Deaths by province, in addition to the 40 from Bangkok:

Samut Sakhon -- 13

Songkhla -- 7

Yala -- 6

Nakhon Pathom, Pathum Thani, Prachinburi - 4 each

Samut Prakan & Nakhon Nayok -- 3 each

Narathiwat, Pattani, Chonburi, Phetchaburi, Kanchanaburi, Ayutthaya, Roi Et -- 2

each

And then a bunch more with single deaths

Very disappointing.  If people can't exercise in parks, they'll run in the streets.  Or should they stay inside and not exercise at all?
