BANGKOK (TNA) – The army deployed its transport aircraft to send asymptomatic COVID-19 cases back home in remote areas. The service can be booked via tel. 0 2270 5685-9.

Army commander-in-chief Gen Narongpan Jitkaewtae ordered the use of the C-295 transport aircraft to send patients to provinces far from Bangkok so that they could avoid lengthy road trips.

The army set up a coordination center to handle its COVID-19 responses which included the airlifts. It used the airplane to send COVID-19 cases to treatment facilities in provinces. The cases also covered those with mild symptoms whom the management of conventional hospitals wanted to move to field hospitals.

All they are doing is shipping Covid 19 around the country. It would be better to support these people here until they are through the infectious period rather than to ship them to remote areas where locals are more vunerable due to a shortage of facilities if Covid gets a grip.

'Remote Areas' don't have Airports; so presume they are dropped in by Parachute and each will get one of those badges the Police like to wear !

The C-295 can take off/land in a relatively small space. Only needs a min of 670M for runway..

What about the Navy? Do they have any plans on how to use their mega expensive submarine to help fight CV19?

I think the plan is to load the Covid virus into torpedo warheads and fire them into outer space. (Or am I mixing this up with something else that I read?) ????

what a waste of resources.

It cost some $10k fuel for 1h flight machine which is designed to carry heavy equipment, some 50 tonnes, not just few passengers.

There are thousands passenger air planes grounded right now.

For those 325k baht they can send 100 sleeper buses able to transport some 2000 patients directly from door to door, without need for shuttle to and from airports.

I would not be surprised of ministry of defence will charge ministry of health for "emergency help"

I've read the C-295 is either supplemental or competitive to the C-130.  I'm surprised the Royal Thai Army is flying heavy cargo aircraft.  Here is the aircraft type to be replaced -- https://th.wikipedia.org/wiki/ไฟล์:CASA_C-212-300_Aviocar,_Thailand_-_Army_AN1641411.jpg

1300400Z-130403Z (131100 to 131103 local) APR 2021:

RTAF transport aircraft
azimuth direction of travel 190°
speed est. 200 mph
altitude 5,000 feet and descending
4 turboprop engines
Destination:
Prachuap Khiri Khan - VTBP - 11.788 - 99.805 - Mil.-Paved-6500 ft

I could see a large back door slant and an overall configuration that, in my opinion this was a C-130.  Wikipedia
for the RTAF says 10 of these are being upgraded.  I did not hear any noise so perhaps altitude was 10,000 feet.
My hearing is shot and right ear canal is totally plugged up.  No pain or infection and don't want to visit Hua Hin
clinic or hospital due to the Wuhan virus outbreak.

The tourist plane flying out of Hua Hin (Bo Fai) airport is hardly flying these days.  Pre-Wuhan virus several times
a day; now perhaps once every two or three days.
