I looked up this term and it could mean revving up the engine with no gear (neutral)?

Then let the clutch jump?

Looks like he was a race driver in his second job.

Gunning the engine does not necessarily mean this, accelerating flat out in gear reaching max revs without changing up a gear is also applied as gunning it.. He pulled out in front of his mate and IMO was trying to race/impress/show off  his car to his work mate. Failed. but succeeded in a Darwin award.

I was thinking the same, but couldn't remember what that was called. Maybe a write off before someone welded it back together.

Not such a good cut and shut performed on that Car.

I thought I have seen them all but I have no clue how a sedan can have such number plate?
