You could really care less that other countries could be shorted for vaccines Because Thailand didn't order enough. Its telling because you haven't mentioned it. You must work for the Thai government.

Trolls should not start silly arguments with someone who is a polymath and has an interest in semantic logic (The analysis of what you have said using mathematics to determine your validity) it is used by speech writers to make the politicians seem like they are saying something but are actually saying nothing and by clued up journalists to analyse political speeches. Also used by propagandists to write posts which disseminate false news and fear

  • I hope they actually go ahead and do this, they should ban all export of any vaccines produced in Thailand until everyone in Thailand is vaccinated.   The result of doing this is going to be

I know lets shaft our Asean friends. We don't need them, we have the CCP. This is why generals (and doctors!) should not run countries.

  • I am not sure Thai government has the power to do this. They have a contractual arrangement with Astra Zeneca which specified how much vaccine is to be supplied to Thailand and how much is for export

You do know who pwns the courts, don't you?

You have to look at the supply contract in detail.  It's not unusual for international contracts to call for any disputes to be settled in a 3rd country court, like Singapore.  (Especially when one party is a gub'ment agency) They can also call out which country's laws apply, and it can be yet another.  Meaning they can require that the dispute be settled under Canadian law in a court in Mexico.

Of course that's a ridiculous example, but "ownership of the courts" isn't a slam dunk.  Otherwise, there are places in the world where you cannot do business.  And Thailand would be one of those.

The case of India was particular as the true issue was that it wasn't able to produce the intended quantities. The reason was that the US blocked exports of all vaccines and vaccine components at that time. So it did not really divert vaccine production, just prioritised what it was able to produce due to the US embargo.

The problem with India is that the government would not give money to expand capacity at Serum Institute, so they couldn't produce for India and for the Covax contract at the same time. It's a pity that Covax did not think beforehand, investigate what would surely happen when Covid hit India, versus capcity of SII facilities.
