Cataract Surgery Scar Tissue Removal/YAG Posterior Capsulotomy

Featured Replies

I had lens replacement surgery overseas 18 months ago and now one eye is blurry and a bit gunky. A friend overseas had a similar problem with her Lens replacement and was fixed with a quick laser treatment to the crook eye. I expect my eye will need the same.

Has anyone had this procedure in Thailand and would recommend the surgeon? Where, who, and roughly how much?

My sister had this done for "secondary cataract" (lay term) following surgery for cataracts.

Dr.  Roy at Rutnin in Bangkok, highly recommended. Not sure but I think it was around 10,000 - 12,000  baht (both eyes)

Would have been under half that at a government facility such as

Metta Pracharak Hospital in Nakhon Pathom  http://www.metta.go.th/

or its Bangkok affiliate

Metta International Eye Center

But we wanted the best and to be able to choose the doctor

Interesting...Not had any surgery here in Thailand but had Cateracts..done about 5-15 years ago in UK but unfortunately ...then needed a Corneal Transplant which was identified at of all places McCormicks Hospital,Chiang Mai. Eventually had that procedure carried at the Western (imperial College) in London...but feel might still need a follow up assessment...This c19 has messed up any impending consultations so considering maybe a visit when/if possible to the Rutnin....Not much fun eh...????️????

I have had the minor laser surgery at Rutnin Eye Hospital as suggested by Sheryl. The hospital is very efficient and I was able to have everything done in one day. The total cost for one eye was about 7500 Baht but that included comprehensive tests on both eyes. The laser + surgeon was 3000 Baht.
