Media company hfocus.org published the latest figures for foreigners living in Thailand who have received Covid-19 vaccinations.

 

They said that 356,337 foreigners or 7.27% of the total number of foreigners in Thailand had been vaccinated so far.

 

More than one and a half times more men than women have been jabbed.

 

Average age is 38.

 

20,028 elderly people have been vaccinated or 7.6% of the total so far.

 

Those who have received two doses is 107,106 people or 30.1% of the total vaxxed so far.

 

Thailand, the report claimed, cared about foreigners and they can register and get vaccinated if they want, but conditions apply.

 

Here are the top ten nationalities who have been vaccinated in Thailand in the period February 28th to August 14th:

 

1. Myanmar people 178,531 50.1% of the total

 

2. Chinese 38,447 10.8%

 

3. Cambodians 36,580 10.3%

 

4. Laotians 22,023 6.2%

 

5. Japanese 14,866 4.2%

 

6. Indians 8,893 2.5%

 

7. Filipinos 8,565 2.4%

 

8. British 7,683 2.2%

 

9. French 5,936 1.7%

 

10. Americans 4,649 1.3%

Small print must be read....conditions apply. Many have tried to be vaccinated but told No, including my GF.

Struggling a bit believing these numbers.  It implies roughly only 16% of Brit's and 11% of Americans have received even a first dose vaccine.  Would have thought  by now it would have been much higher.  The French and Japanese numbers look in line though.

I can't help you but I hope to get vaccinated today through a chamber of commerce initiative. Hopefully it all goes through. But its hard to get a vaccine as a foreigner if your not over 60. So this went through friends as the chamber of commerce is not from my home country but my GF's. But my moderna that i ordered has been pushed to 2nd quarter. This is Pfizer that i get (will have to see). I was lucky as they prioritized people from the Chamber of commerce its nation. 

75 plus & 60 plus, some issues but not pregnant, and looks like getting bumped for the 4th time with Expatvac crumbling, as anticipated though.

Medpark hospital have opened registration for Moderna, anticipated. Delivery 2022 Q1 3300 for 2 doses

0% of the Americans in my household have received a first vaccine, although all have pre-registered in multiple places including Expatvac . Average age is close to, but not yet, 60.  I'm in Bangkok.

 

I'm 78 & registered through Intervac; Chamber of Commerce weeks ago BUT live in Pattaya.  It is newsworthy when any vaccine escapes the ringfence surrounding Bangkok and trickles into the ghost town formerly known as Pattaya.

Oh B*gger it I cannot be bothered!

Numbers seem in proportion with the total number of Thais so seems fair. 

Would like to see the countries and type(s) of vaccine they got too.

Can only comment on Chiang Mai. Most of my farang friends over 60 have registered at various places but have not received appointments. Those that could be bothered have gone to the walk in clinics and got one jab of Sinovac and an appointment for the next of AZ. No hassle.

Some are still sitting indoors waiting for the jab to come to them. Personal choice I guess.

One shot? Two shots? Three shots?

 

Assume one shot.

 

I see a 30% figure for 2-shots.

 

 

At least we made the top 10. Probably get bumped down by Bhutan soon?

 

 

So there are 5 million legal foreigners.

You forget about the millions of foreign workers I think.  Those from Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and Malaysia.

No, not at all, my village is 70% Myanmar and Laos. I was alluding that the number surprised me. It's often quoted there are 3 Million migrant workers which woud mean 2 million additional foreigners.

 

Just seemed higher than I would expect.

This was a summary of the situation regarding vaccination of foreigners around 20th July, so four weeks ago, and it's interesting to see the changes. Without going into a lot of tedious detail, it seems that around 70% of doses were given to migrant workers, almost all young and at no real risk from Covid. I guess they’re workers caught in factory or dormitory clusters who have been given priority for receiving vaccines over the elderly foreigners and those with chronic medical conditions. Resuming the production of widgets and doodads is evidently more important than protecting the lives of retired expats.

 

Around 20% of the vaccines were second doses, and the rest were divvied up between the less-numerous foreign worker populations (like the Filipinos) and the foreign expats living here. The British and Americans, for example, received around 5,800 doses between them, or around 3% of the total given in the four-week period. So don’t worry, Thailand cares about you, just not enough, it seems, to give you any genuine priority to receive a potentially life-saving vaccine.

Yes the whole situation is a bit strange how they allocate vaccines. I was lucky that some Singapore friends pointed me to their chamber of commerce initiative. Got a pfizer shot today and will get an other in 3 weeks. Just lucky i guess if not for this I would have had to wait for the moderna i registered for that was supposed to come in q4 postponed to q2 next year. Might just be in time as a booster shot for my Pfizer to be safe an other year.

 

Many of my Thai friends (younger) havent been able to get shots either so its not just expats.

Cant be arsed  with any of their shennanigans,  will  just wait until the rabble  have all  had theirs, registered on that expat site, heard  nowt another waste  of  time maybe. Dont care if its 6  months or 12  months.

Good luck Mike! As an aside, I lived in Patts from 2008 to about 2017 .. what are things like now? Is it truly a ghost town? I’m trying to imagine the place without international tourism it’s hard to get one head around it 

I am glad to see the Burmese up there. They need some good news in their lives.

Nobody seems to point out the obvious issue from these figures and the lack of attending to Farangs and vulnerable ones too..

Half of the numbers are Myanmar. And they are likely to be principally migrant workers, and likely young.

Its obvious that the average age is far lower than it should be if the most vulnerable are going to be vaccinated.

So they care more about them than they do the rest of the foreigners.

 

Perhaps they fear that they were spreading covid and wanted to give them Priority.

 

BS. Most are going to be construction workers or other menial jobs, and they do not want to lose the cheap labor.

That's probably a more realistic reason for the relatively very high number from Myanmar .

Remember that its primarily money that counts, not people.

Of course its all about keeping the economy going these guys make money for rich Thais so that is why they got vaccinated. Also these people like you said are more likely to spread it so that was one reason too.

And we know one Thai who owns one of the very large construction companies.
Work continued throughout most of the lockdowns without the appropriate measures that everybody else had to take.

It is good to see that they recently introduced a lot more measures for the Construction sites and workers.
However, much too late.

So the westerners (British, French, American) constitute only 5% of the whole population of foreigners vaccinated? Bummer...

No queue jumping at all, they had doses allocated and I was free to sign up. All above board. Was people from SG first then other countries. Did see some other white skinned expats besides the Singaporeans. So i was not alone. All done above board did not bribe anyone. It was actually free (surprised me the most).

 

Just a lucky opportunity. In 3 weeks ill get my second shot. 

I'm an American. I just got my first dose today at BNH. Didn't think it was ever going to happen at the rate things were progressing. Once inside they were very organized. It went well. My next dose will be in September, which is sooner than I expected.
