Cost of concrete driveway

Orinoco

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys
Need some advice, got a drive way to sort out.
Total square meters is 317, will be 10cm thick with wire mesh.
142 square meters is old busted 5cm concrete, to be taken up, the rest is virgin ground
back filled over 20 years ago.
Had a quote of 100,000 to do it all with ready mixed C-Pac concrete.
Looks like about 316 baht a square meter.
Does this sound about right or is it way off base?
any one know ?
Thanks Orinoco.

Last C-Pac I bought for a similar job was a little while ago, paid around 1800 baht for 3 cube (1 full load).

Yours at 317, by 4inch thick = 9m2, per cube, x 3 cube per lorry, 27 m2

317 /27 = 12 loads aprrox.

Ring your local C-Pac and ask them what 12 loads will cost and go from there.

I look at these kind of things and break down the costs.

Remove old Concrete + prep for new

JCB + small Truck 1 Day = 15 K baht

4 Guys @ 500 / day X 2 Days = 4 K baht

Wire Mesh 2 Rolls at 1200 / per roll 2 . 4 K

Concrete @ 1900 per cube = 7 cube X 1900 = 13 . 3 K

4 Guys X 1 Day @ 500 Day = 2 K

Remove shuttering Etc 4 Guys X 1 Day @ 500 per Day = 2K

Contractors Tool Fee = 10 K

Total roughly 48.7 K

100 K would give the Team a good profit for about 4 days work in total.

I would look for a quote of around 70 K

Based on the work involved a good wedge and reasonable profit, I think this to be about a fair price

Of course this is my view only and others will be along to offer advice also so wait out a little while

The demolition will be more than the concrete. The price does not sound bad for the work. What base are you thinking?

thank you for your reply

Was just going with compacted ground that's there, only.

should only be one or two  cars on it.

Funny thing,  is C-Pac truck and steal delivery trucks have busted what was left of the

old drive way,  so very easy to take up. on 50mm thick in the best place !!!!!!!!!!!

You should thank them for that. Breaking the old concrete can be a bitch.

I would put down compacted sand and use 6mm deformed bar, I hate cracks.

The ground was filled 20 odd years ago, and in laws did the original concrete,

very messy and very thin in places !!!!!!!!!!!!! oh my Buddha what a mess.

just perfect for the rainy season !!!!!!!! LOL.

could you take the busted concrete up and just put some stones down instead?

Not an option as about 60% of the drive way is the in laws !!!!!!!!!!!!!

so need to put it back the same as before ( will  be better ).

it's just one more cost of building the house,  the list is getting long !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do you arrive at 7 cubic meters of concrete? I make it 31.7 cubic metres (317 sq.m. of driveway 10 cm  thick).

You are of course correct - my Bad

I was disturbed by Daughter with problem online learning - my apologies

Therefore Concrete cost = 60,800

The amended amount would be just over  96 K But as pointed out 15 K for JCB+ truck seems possibly high

10 K Contractors tools - not sure this counts

Still go for 90 K tops

For a drive way spec (the lowest is enough) the C-PAC price is about 1,500 -1,600 Baht/cbm

there's a lot of concrete there! I understand the need for shade in a place like Thailand but I actually like the look of your stones lol ????
