Bangkok, 19 August, 2021 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to announce that the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) has reopened 60 of its 155 national parks nationwide starting from this month until further notice.

Mr. Thanya Netithammakul, DNP Director General, said in the official announcement that the reopening of national parks would help minimise the impact of the COVID-19 restrictions for local businesses and communities around the parks.

However, he stated that parks are allowed to reopen under the conditions that strict public health measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection are in place.

According to the DNP, below is the list of national parks that are open to visitors as of 18 August, 2021. Lovely but any news about the  dual pricing issue ??? ????

why not get it sorted out whilst there is virtually no foreign tourists..

would be a great welcome back surprise for when they eventually return !!

Living in Nonthaburi , it's nice sometimes to get out in the open air. Normally I would head for Chatuchak park where I would take some sustenance and sit in the peace and quiet for an hour or 2.

So off I went 2 days ago. Park closed. I've made it perfectly clear in the past what I think of most people making decisions for me.  I'm bewildered  when those decisions have no merit or sense.

The welcome back surprise is when the tourists are required to pay 20 X the locals price instead of the present 10 X .  Remember the plans is for wealthy tourists only in the future.  Those that balk at being ripped off won't be welcome.

70 Million Thais and also many Farang

Out of about 65 million either have to work or not have economy to travel around due to the long going pandemic. Then you add the huge amount of about 150 000 foreigners.

After that you have to consider the facts that we still have about 20 000 new infections and around 300 deaths per day. That means common sense tells you it´s not advisable to travel around too much yet as well as the will to take such risks wont be high.

I didn't really understand why they shut in the first place.  Its not difficult to social distance in a national park and the clean air and exercise may help strengthen the immune system to fight of any unfortunate infection.

No family pick-ups with 10 friends in the rear bed allowed.
