Pregnant women dying daily it appears.  Pregnancy must be create the perfect host it appears.  Just really sad.  RIP to all who passed as well as the unborn, and my condolences to all who have lost someone, be it a family member, friend or partner.

Maybe it's because there was doubt about vaccinations for pregnant women and these women have not been vaccinated. I don't know.

Second time he has caught covid..............

#ThaiProtest activist @mike_rayong has been tested positive for #COVID19 *again* after being first infected in pre-detention back in May. A few other prominent activists have been now infected in prison incl. @paritchi earlier this month.

Interesting. Exposure to previous variant does not give any immunity to Delta. Mmmm?

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA)’s fleet of “BKK Mobile Vaccination” units will start delivering jabs to people at home in about a week, BMA said on Wednesday.

Good idea. How about a testing unit to go with them. What am I thinking. Vaccination numbers up infection numbers down so I guess my good idea isn't going to happen.

Opinion: The US Vice President just visited the region, why did she skip Thailand?

In Thailand, there have also been grumbling about the situation in Kabul but to a lesser extent. Instead, Harris’ trip has prompted conversations about her choice of locations and why she chose to visit Vietnam and Singapore instead of Thailand.

As hosts of next year’s APEC summit, many Thai leaders felt slighted that Harris chose to bypass the country. Given that Thailand often brags about how it is the oldest Asian treaty ally of the United States, Harris’ omission of Thailand was embarrassing for the Prayut government. Arguments over the Covid situation also fell flat given the rising number of infections in Vietnam.

Same reason the US gave 5 million doses of Moderna (better against Delta than Pfizer) to Vietnam and only 1.5 million doses of Pfizer to Thailand. Vietnam the old enemy is a better ally than Thailand the old friend.

In a weird way this reminds me of one of Stalin's famous statements: "One death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic." In Thailand, the 'statistic' is now 10,000, yet we're 'seeing light at the end of the tunnel'.

Yet another quote falsely attributed to Stalin, or in this case attributed without proof - the only source of the attribution being newspaper columnist Leonard Lyons.

They did vaccination jabs ~550k on Monday and Tuesday.

With some added buses, I'm tipping 750k per day coming soon.

Yep and absolutely no extra testing. Good that vaccinations are going up but fairly sure they'll be ripping through the sinovac so they can get more.

Probably right. Stalin didn't care about anyone or anything except power. One could say the same about the general here that came to power through a coup and won a very questionable election.

the 7 day average for daily deaths had stalled out at about 180/day not long ago.  but since then we've had a few high count days (300+ and high 200's) and now we are up to about 260/day on the 7 day avg.  so quite a move up from two weeks ago.  i hope the top of the peak is being put in now.

Not sure about these numbers though as they are higher than the 194 count according to the following source at the time I am writing

Thailand on track to get 100 million shots in arms by year end, official says

Thailand is on course to meet the target of administering 100 million Covid vaccine doses within 2021, even though only 28 million doses have been administered so far and AstraZeneca will only be able to send seven million doses per month between September and December, the government said on Wednesday.

A total of 28.2 million Covid vaccines were administered between February 28 and August 24, including 21.2 million first doses, 6.4 million second doses and 560,624 third-booster shots.

Then why say Phuket tourists were happy? You don't know.

No serious volume of people are going to travel half way across the world for a holiday with the hoop jumping involved.

Cinema admissions, in the UK and US, are just over 50% of their pre pandemic levels, but millions are going to spend weeks going through the endurance test, expense and possible forced incarceration, for a few weeks in Thailand?

Who,s going to spend a few weeks at the movies?

Director of the Emergency Health Hazard Division of Thailand’s Disease Control Department, Dr. Chawetsan Namwat, has announced new vaccination plans.

People aged 18 and over, including those aged 60 and over, those with any of the seven underlying diseases and women who are 12 weeks pregnant, will be inoculated using the Chinese Sinovac vaccine for the first dose and the UK’s AstraZeneca for the second, with three weeks in between doses. In some cases, two doses of AstraZeneca, 12 weeks apart, may be used.

Children, aged between 12 and 18, with any of the seven underlying diseases, and women who are 12 weeks into their pregnancy, will be inoculated with two doses of Pfizer, with three weeks between the doses.

This is perfect. I mean it. Numbers coming down, as they would have no matter what we would have done here. But, Thais will see this and say, “success”, and open up… just in time for what? You guessed it, the next wave. I’m being serious, I’m not happy, but that’s how I see it playing out.

Then of course the opening will be blamed for the second wave, which it would not have had any affect on it whatsoever in actuality, but they will <deleted> back down as they say to themselves,”it’s not working”.

Second wave here will be blamed on no vaxxers. Even though everywhere had second waves is a very now predictable fashion.

They are gonna close back down after opening, get very strict on vax papers. A living hell. Tit.

Fourth wave maybe or a continuance of the third.
