PHUKET: The Phuket Regional Blood Center at Saphan Hin is in urgent need of blood donors for a long-term Phuket expat who cannot undergo open-heart surgery without it.

Peter Ferry from Glasgow, Scotland, explained to The Phuket News this morning that he is at Bangkok Hospital Phuket waiting for the blood donations so he can undergo the surgery.

Peter is 87 years old. Fluent in written and spoken Thai, he has been living in Thailand for 67 years.

I am O- (universal donor) and would love to help.

I have given blood regularly right up until March this year BUT now that I am 70, they will not accept my blood.

Sorry - and good luck Peter.

I would help, I donate regularly but I’m far away from Phuket. Would it still be counted if I went to offer blood donation specifically for this person?

I am very willing to help, and I have the same rare blood group as Peter (B-), so I contacted the Bangkok Hospital Pattaya to see if they could help send the blood to Phuket, if I donated blood with them.

Unfortunately their answer was negative. The person I spoke with at BHP said that they do not have a ‘blood bank’ in Pattaya.

I'll donate blood if they give me a vaccine.

Not Sinovac.
