GammaGlobulin
If you want to get along with your GF, by extrapolation, then do not be so direct in your verbal intercourse. Try to couch your criticisms of her by storytelling. Speak in parables. This is my short and sweet advice to you. GammaGlobulin
I am not saying that we should not be sincere. Without sincerity and true love, no relationship can survive. Still, always seek out the hidden beauty in your GF, and let your GF know how much her hidden beauty truly means to you. Same goes for Thailand. There is so much hidden beauty, here. Think of your best story, and, through doing this, you will become even happier. The purpose of storytelling is temporary diversion from reality. Everybody does it. I am just saying that the importance of avoidance of direct confrontation, here, is not to be underestimated.

GammaGlobulin
Many people here may not know this about me: In fact, I have been passionately IN LOVE with a woman, in Thailand, but only from afar. I do not mean to say that she is very "far", from me, in terms of miles or kilometers, like the Moon from the stars. She is just around the corner from me, in Earthly terms. Her close proximity to me makes my life all the more intolerable. Of course, I ask for no sweet advice on this forum. I only ask for some sympathy. Truly, I am smitten with her. Just a whiff of her imagined perfume makes my heart palpitate. Do you even think that I am joking? I will never declare my love to her, simply because my great longing for her sweetens my life, and provides me something to look forward to. I sometimes dream about her, and often tell myself stories about her. She is so beautiful to me; I cannot think of any other. If we should wed, I would only tell her stories which would promote her happiness. All cultures are not the same. I love this culture. This culture is pretty special, and glorious.

But, your help is something I really need. Therefore, now that you have helped me in this way, I really feel indebted to you for your great kindness". You know, I'm convinced that you've been sent over from that Tiger forum to sow anger and frustration amongst the members of this forum, leading to mass exits from this forum, so that we don't have to read the tripe that you spout (to yourself mostly, judging by how many times you reply to your own posts) every day.... Just give it a rest... Edited August 30, 2021 by simon43 4 1

This is not the typical usage: Most people just say: GrengJai This is sort of like saying.... BaoQian, or DuiBuqi, .... meaning, "sorry" Of course, love means never needing to say sorry. ============ GrengJai is a very easily understood concept. I am not sure why there is no good translation in most dictionaries.
jensmann
listen,i respect greng jai. when thai deal with thai they follow their culture. when thai deal with farang they have to respect our way too, cause they want desperately get the best out of the global world... give you a sample: when i deal with google i make them respect my rights and they make me accept their terms and conditions. fair enough. so, my frank and straight request will be answered by a thai story. fair? [since you understand good writing you might self-edit some of your own work and stop the repetition and cut it all down a good bit] more simply put: Graing Jai = to impose And: the response, for example if a workman asks you to buy a beer - Proong Nee or tomorrow. It is accepted as "No" but it is a soft "no" as it allows the possibility of tomorrow.. Just understanding that there are going to be cultural differences is a good first step.... plenty of pain and anger here caused because the farang weigh things by their own customs and don't know or understand that things can and are done differently here...
