alx123
So we are currently looking for new tubetype tires for my friend. The shops nearby said they didnt have the size we're looking for so we are thinking of buying it online and let the tire shop install it for us. Shopping for tires can be confusing online, as most are either tubeless or does'nt say if it's TL or TT. Iv'e read somewhere that TL tires can be used with tubes, but I'm not so sure about it. Anyone knows the verdict about this? If not , we might just keep looking on the shops here and see if they have the TT sizes wer'e looking for. The sizes we want are the ff: 100/80 17 and 130/70 17 tube types. Please let us know if you know any brands and model TT in this sizes. bamboozled
Ah I got it....because the spokes go through the wheel and the head of the spoke is on the inside....air would escape through the spoke hole? Thank you for the info. Learning is fun! 1

canthai55
1 hour ago, alx123 said: Sorry but Please explain why would a tube run hotter on a tubeless tire? Thanks More friction. The tube flexes inside the tire, which creates heat. It also flexes in a tube type tire. Not a lot of difference, but a difference none the less.

Now I've never inspected the inside of a tubeless M/C tyre, but I did read in an article somewhere that the surface is somewhat rougher than a standard tyre. This could explain the heat build up due to friction. The article went on to say that it is not such a good idea to fit a tube inside a tubeless tyre unless it is fitted to a solid rim. In other words, if you have a spoked rim, don't use a tubeless tyre plus an innertube. You risk a catastrophic deflation if the tube tears. 1

The logic is simple, if you have a spoked wheel rim, do NOT use a tubeless tyre. They not designed for that purpose. Use a standard tyre plus inner tube. Sorry, but I cannot assist you with on-line purchases. I have always used the original stock tyres from the dealer where I bought my motorcycles. Maybe you should try that route. Honest. im in BKK, plenty of shops here but mostly stocks are TL tires. I just want to confirm if I can really put tubes on TL tires or not, hence this thread. We just did exactly that and it looks fine, we'll see if we'll have any problems with it in the future.
