Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha defended his government’s performance in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic today (Thursday), the third day of the no confidence debate against him and five other ministers, claiming that cumulative infections and fatality rates in Thailand are much lower than those in many other countries.

 

He also explained the initial decision not to join COVAX was not a mistake and dismissed the Opposition’s allegation that the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), which he is heading, has assumed a monopolistic position in the management of the pandemic.

 

After being bombarded with accusations by the Opposition over slow vaccine procurement, vaccine shortages and alleged corruption in the procurement of the Sinovac vaccine, the prime minister took to the floor to defend himself and his administration.

That's probably more important for him than Thai deaths due to any virus !

It is very clear exactly who he reports to, and it is not the Thai people.

so are testing rates, as for fatality rates - a very gray area

You all misunderstand me.

In lieu of the "deal" the political parties were trying to put together to oust the current clown, a royalist hiso Thai threw out another option.  This guy is a royalist, but is fed up with this junta gov.  He said an off the wall idea / thought going around is if it gets close to Prayuth being ousted he will do a 'coup' on his own gov to take back total control.  This would require he has enough RTA support.

 

I'm not sure where Prawit would fit in here or ApiRat for that matter too.  He said there are factions within the RTA that are not loyal to Prayuth.

And yet Sinovac is 4 times as expensive as AstraZeneca, and has been proven to be less effective, but they still continue to buy it!  Thailand belongs to China through debt!
